Acacia or walnut for a dining table?
If you are a fan of the Bible acacia has some symbolic significance. On a wood note acacia can refer to MANY species. And walnut a few less. Here is a link to the acacia list https://www.wood-database.com/hardwoods/fabaceae/acacia/#species If you can identify the specific species you can look at ONE IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE.... Jenka hardness. Measured by dropping a marble on the wood perpendicular to the grain (basically how hard it is to dent) which I could imagine being important considering the presence of a child. Good luck. More on reddit.com
Is acacia a good wood for coffee table?
I've used some acacia on a live edge table I made a few years ago. Put some tung oil on it and it's a beauty. More on reddit.com
Got a new table, should be acacia wood. is it normal that it differs so much in colour?
That’s just a bunch of 2” planks glued together. Doesn’t surprise me that one plank is lighter unless the manufacturer was going for the white stripe like that.

You really should ask the manufacturer/seller and follow their instructions. But I'm betting you will need to cross your fingers and/or pray to whatever deity you please. Wood moves. It simply will do so no matter what you do unless you heavily modify or "stabilize" it - processes which are uncommonly (if ever) used on large pieces of wood to be used for furniture. If the lumber they used to build the product was wetter than the current conditions in which you are currently utilizing it? As the wood dries it should be expected to crack/check. That's normal wood behavior. Sealing the wood can slow the movement of moisture but none of our finishes really stop it (maybe paints can do that but I don't think they do it perfectly). So we try to get wood which is about as dry as we expect the interior of the house/office/whatever will be and then seal it to minimize moisture movement and then hope that the building's environment (actually both heat and humidity but especially humidity) will be kept in the optimal range. If the product is not properly constructed to allow for some wood movement? You're toast. It's going to have issues eventually. But proper construction with properly dried lumber and then good space conditioning and maintenance and wood products can last for a very long time. BTW, I looked up what is probably the unit you purchased. The cracking is lengthwise (along the grain) which is what one would expect from wood movement likely due to moisture changes. If their tabletop attachment method does not allow for movement this should be expected. More on reddit.com

Both tables are gorgeous, but the Walnut is about $300 more.
Which wood makes a better table? Sorry if this isn't exactly a woodworking question, but I know nothing about types of woods. Thanks!
Edit: I should point out that this table will see a lot of use, I have a 6-year-old now and another on the way!

That's a tough call, honestly and a lot is personal preference. But here's my 2 cents. I have an acacia dining table. At least what's commonly referred to as acacia in the U.S., so it's probably the same as what you're looking at. I've had it for 10 years. I have 2 kids. We don't eat there every day, but often enough, and it still looks almost new. There are some surface scratches in the finish, but the wood itself is holding up well. I think the contrasting color of acacia lends itself well to hiding damage well. Hope that helps, but pick the table you like best. Walnut is beautiful, and would hold up well also. It's a pretty hearty wood.
