So, a couple years ago, i found something called AI dungeon, it was my first contact with an AI model. It was very good until it got censored af. The version i used was probably using GPT 2 or 1 (idk)
Is there any model that can compare or is better for text based RPGS that isn't very censored and preferably 7b (im running on oobagooba with my CPU)
Note: Sorry if i used the wrong terminology, I'm still a total noob lol. I discovered you can run your own language model just 2 days ago, and don't worry, I'm not trying to fulfill some weird fetish 💀.

It just works. Honestly, the model is great, not much else to say about it. Mixtral, MythoMax and TieFighter are good, but I really feel like this is a step up. Also excited for the updates, which Llama really needs. I noticed some problems with repetition, no matter how much you crank up the penalty of the temperature, when you hit retry or continue, you'll probably see the same thing again. There's also the thing with the censoring, which I hope gets a fix soon.
Anyways, been having a lot of fun today using Llama. Also super hyped for the new memory system.
Memory system is going to be crazy, I am making a 100 card scenario in preparation.
Yes really! When the actual version of Llama 3 is not in one (or more?) repetition loops, it's really great and surprising. But I don't understand how to avoid these since the settings don't seem to fix them. So I “filter” myself them by ignoring the repetition and making an action. ( But Llama 3 still put its repetition sentence after, Llama always has the last word finally😅) But it doesn't matter, it's so much fun to play AID! 👍🏻
Now, with instructions and Llama 3, it has literally everything.
Image generation check
Chat bot check
story teller check
Chat gpt 4 turbo check
Llama 3 70b check
Very little censorship check
AID now is just better than everything else, not only as a novel or story writer, but also just everything. Good job team!
Hey there folks. I've recently started to use oogabooga and a couple of models as alternative to GPT-4. I have so far used both the chat and instruct features, but I want something more in between these two, not necessarily just a chat bot, but at the same time not just a bit which creates a whole ass story with no input from me whatsoever. Is there anything which will allow for me to generate stories the way in which aidungeon does (ie. The Story progresses along the context which you give, but you continously change the story proactively as if you were playing a well.made DND campaign.) In other words, I want to be able to generate a story, whilst being able to continue the story by writing in some lines by myself to sort of the guide thr bit along the road I want it to go instead of it writing off into Narnia.
TL:DR: Is an Ai Dungeon style chat style avaliable for use with oogabooga or other similar programs.
Well, the new Llama models have been released, 70B and 8B.
And it's performance is amazing so far, at 8k context length, and open source, no API premium.
Tiefghter worked well and it's Llama based, so maybe Llama 3 would work well on Aidungeon.
This is definitely something we're evaluating! Would love to hear any and all feedback you have from trying out this model.
"Y'all" being Latitude, I presume?
For now, I have not found 70B quantized into anything smaller than Q4, which would take multiple top-line graphics cards to run (or be absurdly slow). So us mere mortals are going to be stuck with 8B. Unless we want to figure out how to rent hardware.
Hey folks!
I’ve been building something I'm super excited to finally share:
🎲 Dungeo_ai – a fully local, AI-powered Dungeon Master designed for immersive solo RPGs, worldbuilding, and roleplay.
This project it's free and for now it connect to ollama(llm) and alltalktts(tts)
🛠️ What it can do:
-
💻 Runs entirely locally (with support for Ollama )
-
🧠 Persists memory, character state, and custom personalities
-
📜 Simulates D&D-like dialogue and encounters dynamically
-
🗺️ Expands lore over time with each interaction
-
🧙 Great for solo campaigns, worldbuilding, or even prototyping NPCs
It’s still early days, but it’s usable and growing. I’d love feedback, collab ideas, or even just to know what kind of characters you’d throw into it.
Here’s the link again:

Thanks for checking it out—and if you give it a spin, let me know how your first AI encounter goes. 😄

Llama is a fresh change after using Mixtral extensively. Speaking of which... I'm thoroughly annoyed by Mixtral's insistence on making every character a sweet angel from heaven who refuses to do anything evil.
Llama though... Can get frustrating and boring very, very quickly. I have set the repeated words penalty to 0.8 and yet I keep seeing the same clichés repeated again and again and again.
For those who made it work, can you share your settings and also AI instructions which brings a major difference?
Switch to Tiefighter or Mixtral when it gets stuck. For me, it works better with Tiefighter. That's what I always do as a main Llama user and it works for me.
Also, Llama follows the AIN (AI Instructions) better than any models so use that to your advantage as well. If you keep experiencing repetition, send proof at the AI Dungeon's Discord. I heard they're trying to fix the repetition issues and the way it gets stuck in scenes for too long.
Even with all the issues though, I just can't go back to Mixtral. The way Llama works with the Story Cards, Plot Essentials and AIN is so good. Like I can actually make a character hate my player and be evil without them losing their personality ten actions later. Guess we'll have to just wait for fixed Llama. 🤞
I have been wanting to try Llama out, but the amount of bad things I hear about it makes me not even wanna try it. What things do Llama do that irritate you? Does it do the all too familiar, You can't help but feel?
Here's a minimalist example using all default settings. Sometimes it's not this bad, but sometimes it's like pulling teeth trying to fight against the model to make anything nsfw happen. Tweaking the settings/instructions don't seem to do anything, or at best seem to help randomly and without any discernable pattern.
Today AI Dungeon open sourced two new SOTA narrative roleplay models!
Wayfarer 2 12B
Wayfarer 2 further refines the formula that made the original Wayfarer so popular, slowing the pacing, increasing the length and detail of responses and making death a distinct possibility for all characters—not just the user.
Nova 70B
Built on Llama 70B and trained with the same techniques that made Muse good at stories about relationships and character development, Nova brings the greater reasoning abilities of a larger model to understanding the nuance that makes characters feel real and stories come to life. Whether you're roleplaying cloak-and-dagger intrigue, personal drama or an epic quest, Nova is designed to keep characters consistent across extended contexts while delivering the nuanced character work that defines compelling stories.
