Sorry if this is explained elsewhere most sources were saying to go through the apple site. Lost my case and I figure I can just buy a used case and have my existing earbuds pair with it when I put it in but want to make sure before I buy.

Yep, assuming you have regular Airpods 1st gen (not Pros) then any genuine 1st OR 2nd gen Airpods case will work perfectly fine.

Nope. 1st gen pros don’t work with the 2nd gen pro case. Plus, Apple isn’t selling the USB C cases on their own. Right now you have to buy a whole new set of 2nd gen pros to get USB C, but hopefully someday they’ll sell USB C replacement cases. More on reddit.com
