Hi, I had the same issue today. Everything was working fine except for the front LEDs and the alien head logo on the front was flashing 2x amber 1x white. But absolutely everything else seemed to be working just fine. I shut it down turning power completely off. I waited a few minutes and unplugged power supply from the wall. I waited about 10 minutes and plugged back in, started up again and it completely cleared the issue. I have no idea what caused this to happen in the first place. I just went to turn my Alienware Aurora R16 and this is what I get. What is this? I did a hard power rest where I completely turned it off and held power button for 30sec and that didn’t help.

It would REALLY help if you don't keep moving the camera away from the power light right as it's doing its diagnostic flash sequence, so that we can see what the full sequence is...

EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED. It was Memory or Random-Access Memory (RAM) failure. All I did was took them out and put them back in and it worked. But this is the very first time I ran into this issue. I feel like the more your machine is powerful the more issues come out. Before I had Alienware Aurora R7 with GTX1080 TI that worked perfect! Hopefully there will be no more issues. Thank you all so much for your help!

This happened after resetting my battery backup. Any idea what might be causing it? Everything seems to be working fin. The internal LEDs all function normally, it's just the power LED that's a solid orange/amber.

Any idea what could be the issue here?

Same is happening to me. It’s working fine now but curious if there’s something wrong with it. I had issue where monitor kept going black and I’d have to reset PC and now it’s been fine but has the solid orange.

i haven’t been used this pc in almost over an year, it worked fine before, last thing i touched on it was the ram, but i placed it back in the right spot. now when i booted up it flashes 4 times, and i also dont know which of the 3 black cables goes to the graphics card. any help is appreciated 🤘

Your system power light flashing mean the POST test has failed and the number of lights is the reason why. Number of times it flashed and the fault below. 1 System board: BIOS and ROM failure 2 No memory or RAM detected 3 System board or chipset error 4 Memory or RAM failure 5 CMOS battery failure 6 Video card or chip failure 7 CPU failure 4 is memory fail, the two reasons its happened to me are.. XMP1 enabled when trying to use 4 sticks, it runs ok with 2, but for some reason 4 just causes this fault. When my son owned this computer, I remember having to use slots 2/4 when I first upgraded the ram. Now its mine I upgraded the BIOS to the latest one and it works fine in slots 1/2 now. Maybe you need a bios upgrade, but for now, put it back in slots 2/4 and see if it boots. If not, use the bios reset jumper on the motherboard, then go into the BIOS when prompted, you don't need to change anything, just save and exit straight away and it should boot. EDIT, also, when you change the memory config, there is a very long pause before windows starts to boot and you will just have a no signal screen on the monitor. It can take a while for windows to start loading as its performing a memory test that can take some time. When you swap the sticks back to 2/4, bear this in mind and give it time. Good luck.

My pc was on all night because i had been playing games until 5 am, and after turning it back on an hour after turning it off, the light turned orange once discord and steam had loaded. Is this something to be worried about? If so what exactly could the problem be? The button is normally blue.

It's hooked up directly to the power source, and it's fully charged, yet the damn power button is blinking yellow and orange. I have tried to google this issue, but nothing has really helped me.

Also, I've noticed my laptop acting super buggy and laggy. Any ideas on what this could mean? Maybe a faulty CMOS battery?

What happens if you unplug the power cable then plug it back in again? Does that sort it out?

In Alienware Command Center, you can adjust the color of the power button while charging or on battery. Typically, it blinks Blue and Orange when charging. However, you could change the color to something else, like yellow. So, maybe check the FX tab, and try adjusting the color settings. 😀

Per Dell I had excess energy. Had to do a hard reboot and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Did it and it’s acting normal now. Thanks for all the input.

So, I got my first Alienware M16 R2 almost a year back and the experience had been good so far. But recently I have noticed some issues with it. When I kept my laptop on sleep mode for approximately 2 hrs, the power button started flashing Blue and Red (8 times blue and 1 time Red). Upon googling I found out that it may be a hardware failure. This had happened once in the past too (about a month ago). Although the laptop starts up just fine after restarting, I'm still worried about it. What should I do? Contact the support team or let it slide? Or are there any other known fixes?

I've heard windows 11 had issues with sleep mode, especially for extended periods. For the meaning of the light code, there's a table in the user manual on the Dell support website, it can help you troubleshoot but maybe Windows is the culprit. Are you up to date with your OS updates?

Don’t use sleep mode its broken as hell. Had similar experience on my m18r2. Shut it down normally and see how it works.

Hi @jayhernandez · Does it do this with the charger connected, you didn't say? · Try a full power refresh in case it is a corrupted BIOS and check if that resolves the problem. · I realize that you said that you said “…I've reseated the battery,” but sometimes it is necessary to also remove the RTC battery (Real Time Clock) from the motherboard as well to reset the BIOS back to its default state. · Here’s the procedure: · a). Disconnect the charger from the laptop if connected. · b). Disconnect the main battery from the motherboard. · c). Disconnect the RTC coin cell battery from the motherboard. · Here’s the service manual for the laptop as linked by you. Go to p.46 & p.47 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the RTC battery and the main battery respectively. · When the RTC battery is removed measure its voltage. If it is <2.6V DC replace it. Search online for Alienware 15 R3 cmos battery, to find suppliers of the part. (cmos battery = RTC battery) · d). Press and hold the laptop's Power button for a full 30 seconds and then release it · e.) Reconnect the RTC battery (or its replacement) and the main battery. · f). Reverse the above to re-assemble the laptop. · g.) When the laptop is completely re-assembled, connect the charger and try to turn on the laptop. · If it starts OK there may be a message about the date and time being incorrect. This is normal as the BIOS has been completely reset back to its default settings. Once the date and time have been adjusted the message won’t appear the next time that the laptop is started. · If you had previously changed any user defined settings in BIOS to suit whatever specific hardware configuration that you had for the laptop, then these will have to be set again.
