Why do some returns give you an option for "no box or label needed" at UPS and others require you to box the item and print your own label?

Depends on the vendor and what they've specified for return handling for that specific item. Does it get thrown in a bulk disposition pallet or does it get returned to the vendor for inspection? More on reddit.com

So I got this gaming keyboard and it was defective so I decided to return it. Now keep in mind I live in a small town so the only option I have is UPS drop off at a local store so I need a return mailing label.

The problem is I don't have a printer but it gave me the option to have one mailed to me for only $1 so I went for that because I figured it would be convenient but it said it would take 3-5 business days to get it mailed to me and it's been 6 business days (since I initiated the return last Saturday or Sunday) and I still didn't get the label in the mail.

I'm not in a massive rush to get it returned since I have till March 8 but I would like to get it over with. Has anyone else had an issue getting a label mailed via USPS?

UPDATE (Dec 26): So a few days after this post I did get the label mailed to me and I put it on there and I gave it to the store that takes returns for UPS to pick up. I got the refund credited to me today.

"Business Days" means Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. There have not been 6 business days since last Saturday.
