What do you guys think about my GPU Tuning and VRAM Tuning?
GDDR6 memory applies error correction if the clock speed is too high. There will be no image errors, just performance degradation. Because GDDR6 corrects and therefore slows down. Try 2050Mhz fast timing or 2100Mhz default.1175mV and 2800Mhz core is too much. Try 1120 -1130mV and 2800Mhz ( but it's silicon lottery) More on reddit.com

July 28, 2023 - AMD itself demonstrates how the overclocking feature works in detail in the video below. Overclocked accordingly, you can expect to see up to 10 to 15 percent more performance (or frames per second) compared to the factory settings for the RX 7900 XT graphics card. Important note: By overclocking or undervolting a GPU, you change important parameters such as the heat dissipation and power consumption of the graphics card.

Hi everyone,

I want to set an absolut max frequency for my 9070 xt after undervolting it, because from time to time it boosts higher that the frequency limit of the card (3450Mhz on the Powercolor Hellhound oc - ) which leads to driver crashes.

But I can't find the "Advanced Control" slider that should provide me with that option. An absolute maxx frequency to me seems smarter than an offset...

Was that option removed or am I just too dumb?

Thx!

GPU: AMD Sapphire Pulse RX 6700 10GB (Factory firmware)

CPU: RYZEN 5 5600

Motherboard: Asrock B550M Pro4

BIOS Version: L2.71

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB (8gbx2) 3600 MHz DDR4 CL18

PSU: NZXT C650 Bronze PA-6B1BB-EU 650W 80+

Case: PHANTEKS P300A MESH

Operating System & Version: Windows 11 Pro 22621.2361

GPU Drivers: whql-amd-software-adrenalin-edition-23.9.3-win10-win11-sep25-rdna

Chipset Drivers: AMD B550 CHIPSET DRIVERS VERSION 5.08.02.027

Background Applications: All disabled, so none (other than default Windows ones)

Description of Original Problem: My AMD Software tuning settings keep resetting every time I reboot no matter what I do. I know many people had this problem before and there are bazillions of posts about this one which I have already read most of. The main culprits are usually fastboot and MSI Afterburner, which in my case don't have a role in the problem.

Troubleshooting:

What I did so far:

- Disabled fastboot both from BIOS and Windows 11.

- Uninstalled MSI Afterburner, RTSS, CPU-Z, GPU-Z etc. almost anything system related.

- Disabled any irrelevant startup programs.

- Uninstalled Antivirus software.

- Also cleaned any related registry entries.

- Windows, AMD Software, and AMD chipset drivers are up-to-date.

- Installed AMD software after a DDU clean-up.

- Tried older AMD software versions.

- Checked task scheduler if there are any weird things there.

- Checked hardware related issues (pins, cables, ram slots etc.)

- Checked Windows for errors with sfc scannow

Is there anything more I can do? Any help would be great. Thanks.

r/Amd on Reddit: Very poorly explained Performance Tuning in Radeon Adrenalin 2020
April 13, 2020 -

I have a Vega 64 LC. Latest Radeon drivers installed. I would like to maximize its performance without getting into anything time consuming and super complex. It seems there are some simple overclocking options in the Radeon software.

For example for Tuning Control - there is Automatic, Preset, and Manual.

When Automatic is selected there is Default, Undervolt GPU, Overclock GPU, and Overclock VRAM. No real explanation. I remember reading though that the Vega GPU's could gain performance and use less power at the same time from undervolting. Maybe I'm mis-remembering though because that seems counter intuitive. The manual which I linked below says "Reduces voltage while maintaining the same clock frequency in order to improve performance per watt."

When Preset is selected there is Power Saver, Balanced, and Turbo. No explanation is given though. I have no clue what they do or change. It doesn't show you.

So in total it seems there are 7 different automatic overclocking choices to choose from. Which one should I use?

A big problem with these 7 choices is that when you choose one, it doesn't show you what is actually being changed. Seems like a huge amateur oversight with the interface.

It also seems weird to me that you can't combine the Undervolt GPU, Overclock GPU, and Overclock VRAM options into one combined balanced overclock. Why would you only want to increase performance in one out of three areas? That doesn't make any sense to me.

It's very strange to me that all these simple and automatic overclocking options are here, but it doesn't show you the results of that overclocking. It really seems like there should be some kind of built-in measurement/benchmark tool. So you can see what the results on performance your choices are.

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh2-020

Also, regarding the Manual option. Would it make sense to choose the Manual option and then max out the three sliders on Max Frequency %, Max Frequency MHz, and Power Limit? Would that make my GPU as powerful as possible? That's really what I'm after. I don't care about power usage or heat really.

Something weird I noticed in this Manual area is that the fan speed for P5 seems to only be 45% by default. So my fan will only go to 45% speed max? That seems really dumb. Why is it like that?

Also, what is Memory Timing Level1 and 2?

Edit: I also just noticed some weird things possibly bugs with the Manual Fan Tuning. Zero RPM mode is missing. Min Acoustic Limit is missing. And Max Fan Speed % is missing. Max Fan Speed % is something which I would definitely like to use. I'm pretty sure it was there at some point in a previous driver. Looks like a bug.

I am missing the 1st mode of Fan Tuning.

Fan Tuning offers two modes for controlling fan speed, these are:

  1. Fan Speed (%) – Adjust the maximum GPU Fan Speed using a percentage slider.

  2. Fan Speed/Temperature – Adjust fan speed and temperature relative to each other on a graph which is represented as a Speed/Temperature curve.

Edit 2: Found another thing missing. The Min Frequency % is missing from the GPU Tuning section. Max Frequency % is there but not Min.

Edit 3: Found ANOTHER missing option. >:{ The VRAM Frequency % is missing from the VRAM Tuning section. VRAM Frequency (MHz) is there but not %.

VRAM Tuning allows customization of memory clock speeds and voltages. This option offers two modes for tuning GPU performance, these are:

  1. VRAM Frequency (%) – Adjust the VRAM clock speeds using a Max Frequency (%) slider.

  2. VRAM Frequency (MHz) – Adjust the VRAM clock speeds using a Max Frequency (MHz) slider.

Everytime i try to adjust the gpu clock speed it flashes some colors and restarts my pc ive never had a issue with it before updatingi it to the current version of 23.9.1. I used to be able to import a profile from my pc so i didnt have to adjust it every reset but it no longer lets me import my profiles i made from the amd software itself.

May 11, 2026 - Better yet, your tuned parameters can be configured globally or customised for individual games, allowing you to maintain efficiency in less demanding titles. Overclocking pushes your GPU’s clock frequency higher, which requires more power while producing more heat. In addition to tuning frequency and voltages for both your GPU and VRAM (memory), AMD’s software also allows fan control and GPU monitoring.
