How to find build date for Magic Keyboard… - Apple Community
I'm selling my 2017 iMac to buy a new Macbook Pro with large monitor for desktop use when I'm not in mobile mode. I have two Magic Keyboards and two Magic Mice from previous Mac computers but have not been able to find their build dates so I can sell the right pair of accessories with the iMac.

What's the difference between the models mla22bz/ a and mk2a3bz/a of the Magic Keyboard? I found both at different prices and they seem to be identical, both without the Touch ID button.

For anyone wondering, here’s my experience. I switched from the A1644 to the A2449 about 2 months ago — from the Apple Magic Keyboard 2 to the Magic Keyboard 3 with Touch ID. At first, I was quite disappointed with the new one. Even though it feels like a better-quality build, something felt off. I think the main caveat here is the different spacing between the keys, which changes how your fingers move and messes with your muscle memory. Mentally, it was a bit painful to adjust. After about a month, the transition finally clicked — and now I like the A2449 way more. It feels like it has slightly less key travel, which is a good thing for me. I prefer my keyboards as low-profile as possible. I tried Logitech and Keychron low-profile keyboards before switching — still preferred the Apple MK3. Touch ID is surprisingly useful and satisfying (especially if you’re installing a lot of software on a new machine, for example). It’s quieter and has a softer sound overall. The key feel is better. Hard to describe, but it’s somehow softer and sturdier at the same time. Feels “more mechanical,” even though it’s still a scissor mechanism. Just feels more premium. Latency seems a bit better than the MK2 (I used both wired). So, for anyone doing research — I do recommend switching to the Magic Keyboard 3. Just be mindful of the transition period before you judge it.

Those are not Model Numbers, those are Order Numbers. Looking at MacTracker the keyboards with order numbers starting with MLA is the 2015 small one. Magic Keyboards starting with MK are the three 2021 versions; the short one with lock key & touch id and the normal one (Numeric Keypad) with Touch ID The Model Numbers start with A though. For instance the 2021 Magic Keyboard with Lock Key is A2450 & the 2015 one would be A1644
