I recently upgraded my partner's iphone 15 through Costco and it came with Applecare+, though without the theft and loss coverage. I read up that there is still a window within 60 days to upgrade our Applecare+ plan to include theft and loss coverage, however it would involve refunding our current (approx $150 pro-rated) and buying the new plan entirely for $269 + tax, losing any savings going through Costco.
Is it worth upgrading the coverage for that peace of mind, or is it not worth it?

Literally was ridin dirty w no apple care on my 15PM but had a case and screen protector on it. Was walkin to the gym and dropped my phone. Picked it up and noticed I Cracked the screen protector. Immediately bought apple care + theft and loss before beginning my workout 🤣. Phone gotta last me 5yrs. EDIT:Yes

I personally have never lost or broken a phone since getting the iPhone 3G. If I buy coverage since then, it would have cost me more than $1500. I can basically buy a phone with 10 years of coverage. I also pay auto insurance covering 3 cars worth about $50K total. The cost is about $250 a month, so $3K a year. It would take 16 years of premium to buy the cars. This insurance also covers $100K in bodily injury per person, $300K bodily injuries per accident, and $100K in property damage. That $400K total would take 133 years of premium to cover. In short, AppleCare+ is really expensive as far as insurance is concerned.

Extended warranty plans like AppleCare+ are sold because they're profitable for the company. Overall Apple comes out ahead on these plans, but if you're particularly clumsy or unlucky there's a chance you could save money. Some people pay just for the peace of mind in case there's an incident. Statistically you're probably better off not buying AppleCare+ and paying out of pocket if there's an incident.

Hello everyone! Currently, I have an iPhone Xr with AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss. I'm planning to upgrade to an iPhone 13 in the next couple weeks/months, and I'm currently stuck on whether to buy AppleCare+ or AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss.
I've never actually lost my phone, or had it stolen, but I do use AppleCare's benefits.
I'm somewhat of a paranoid person about my phone getting stolen, but I'm not sure if the extra peace of mind is worth the extra money. What do you guys think?
(also, I'm planning to buy it for 2 years, not monthly, if that matters.)

If you plan for most everything else in your life to stay the same the next 2 years, I'd skip the theft and loss package. Now if you have planed an out of the country trip to somewhere you've never gone, expect to move to a new city/town, or are looking to find a new job and potentially more risky job, theft and loss has a better chance of being more useful to you.
