Sorry if this has been asked before but its been quite laborious finding answers. I am currently using the ROG MAXIMUS XII HERO (WI-FI) Motherboard and Im trying to update Bios version from BIOS-0504 to BIOS-3001. (Huge leap I know)
I got the file from the official Asus website and in the downloads description it said.
“Before BIOS update, please download Intel ME update tool from ASUS support site, and update ME firmware to Version 14.1.72.2287 to ensure optimized system settings.”
Now this was my first time updating the Bios and the guide I was following didn't mention this step so Ignored it, I did everything else correctly and used the EZ flesh to update in my bios settings, but after doing so the pc didn't take a liking to it, so I had to do a flashback back to my Bios version 0504 and the pc was fine again.
Going back to check on my mistakes I tried to follow those instructions as best as I could but ran into another problem with the MEUpdateTool, saying to "please check mei driver is installed" I've not a clue what am I looking for and what driver I need to install.
I feel so confused and stupid that I'll do something wrong again and completely ruin my pc, any tips or advice on the steps I can take to make this work? It'll be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I just had the same issue. You need to get the MEI driver from here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/682431/intel-management-engine-drivers-for-windows-10-and-windows-11.html Then run the file in "ME_SW_2413.5.67.0\Installers\Main_DCH\SetupME.exe" This will then allow you to run the ASUS ME update tool.
