An Arizona license plate lookup allows users to obtain vehicle information such as the VIN, make, model, year, title status, accident history, odometer readings, and recall details through online services. These tools are designed to help verify vehicle history before a purchase, with many providers being NMVTIS-approved and compliant with the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act (DPPA), ensuring personal owner information like names and addresses is not disclosed.
To perform a lookup, enter the license plate number exactly as it appears (without spaces or symbols), select Arizona as the state, and click "Check Plate". The process typically returns a free preview of basic details like the VIN, make, model, and year within seconds. For more comprehensive data—including title brands, salvage history, theft records, and odometer tampering indicators—users can upgrade to a paid report.
Services like EpicVIN, VinAudit, GoodCar, and LookupAPlate offer these features, with some supporting specialty or digital plates. However, temporary or newly issued plates may not yet be in the database, so results may be limited until registration data is updated. Additionally, while some platforms allow users to report unsafe driving or upload images and comments, these features are community-driven and not official government tools.
It is important to note that while these tools provide valuable vehicle history data, they do not offer real-time location tracking, driver’s license numbers, or insurance details, as such information is protected under privacy laws. For official registration or title verification, contacting the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) or the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) may be necessary, though these processes are typically more time-consuming than online lookups.

ULPT request: how can I find a cars owner with just a license plate and vin
Is this a legit license plate?
Why YSK: This website will show you all the details of a vehicle, say if there was a hit and run and you got a license plate which you can use for a police report. In case you couldn't describe the car exactly.

I got sideswiped by someone and they didn't stop after the wreck. I was able to get the plates for the vehicle but haven't had any luck getting more information from it since most registration info is private. Is there any way I can track down more about the owner or the vehicle from the VIN or plate number?
Edit: I have informed both police and insurance of the incident and neither are interested in pursuing the other driver since they don't think there's enough evidence to to confirm the driver, I'm not looking to do any harm or other unsavory things to this person I'm just looking to do the job that the authorities seem uninterested in doing
