We spend long hours at our desks, and a bad chair can make things so much worse. I’ve used a few over the years, but the Flexfit Hyken mesh chair was probably the worst. The mesh collected dust way too easily, wore out over time, and the support just wasn’t there after a while.

What’s the worst office chair you’ve used? Did it actually impact your back, or was it just uncomfortable? Curious to hear what to avoid!

I haven’t had any bad experiences with chairs yet. I just got the Autonomous mesh chair, and I really like it!

I recently got the kind of amazon basics office chair that has extra lumbar support. It isn't just a cushion, there's an entirely separate piece of the chair that connects to the back with a bar and pivot joint. The first day I had it I sat in it for around 3 hours and thought, "whoa, this is going to take some getting used to." It felt like it was attempting to push me out of the seat and shoving my lower torso way further out than the position I usually sit with it in. By day 2 hour 4 I was squirming around trying to find a more comfortable position. By hour 5 I literally gave up because my back was starting to ache and switched back to my mostly destroyed cheapo gAmInG cHaiR. I'm not knocking this chair. Construction seemed solid. Padding was good. Didn't seem like it was going to disintegrate like the cheap gaming chair I bought before that, but that's always a risk with lower cost pleather chairs, so who knows. A family member who has a more curved lower back than mine actually loved it and stole it when I was going to return it. I don't think its a bad chair, I'm just not correctly built to sit in it. Had a minor back ache that lasted two days before abating, and I don't commonly get back aches. I'm never gonna fuck with hardcore lumbar support again. Hon Volt is a great chair for the price point. Sits well, good warranty. The Volt should be as inexpensive as you go for a entry level chair. Anything less is just that, cheap

I have an Amazon Basics chair; specifically, an older version of this chair . It was pretty decent for... I dunno, 9-12 months? I'm only 5'8" and 125lbs, and a bit over a year later, I'm essentially sitting on metal. I do sit in the chair for 10+ hours per day, so some wear is expected, but it's become intolerable. Additionally, the arm pads are also down to the metal now, and the right armrest sags significantly due to the weight I've applied to it - I'd say it sits a full inch below the left one at this point. Honestly, the reason I'm on this sub right now is to research a replacement. To summarize, it was acceptably comfortable for a little under a year, but don't expect to get any real mileage out of it.
