Hi! So I have a Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra and I've been thinking about getting a newer phone since the camera on here has been making me upset with how awful it's been. Also kinda just want to update since ive had it for like 4years. But I realized the other day that if I do get a new phone, I'll end up losing my text thread that i have with my mom who passed away last June. Is there anyway to back it up to where it shows up in the new phone or would the smart decision be just screenshoting the messages? The text thread is on the regular messages app on the phone, no other special app.

I just upgraded recently from 21u to 25u and I didn't lose any text threads from long-dormant texts with Google messages. I can't say that would be the same with any other messaging apps though. I used smart switch to move everything over without issue.

Why would you need to do anything. If you have a Samsung account, it gets backed up automatically to cloud. All you need to do is to log in to your Samsung account on your new phone and everything will get downloaded into the new phone.
