I always knew Abraham Lincoln, at 6' 4", was considered a giant in his era, but I didn't realize that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, at 6' 2", were pretty tall in their even earlier era. However, I have read that American men were, on average, about 3 inches taller than British men of the same late 18th century era, probably due to country living, better nutrition, and less sickness.
