I worked lovesac production while in college. They are legitimately BIFL. Most people get rid of them because they're over it, few get to be worn out. They used to have a lifetime warranty that they would honor as well. LoveSac is using closed cell memory foam which is one of the reasons they're expensive. It's the 40-60 lbs of foam (several lay z boys worth) and shredding and shipping it is not an easy process. Regardless of age, when you pick them up and flip them over a few times they'll puff right back up as if they're brand new. They can hold you like a chair without being up against a wall. The big LoveSacs require about 10 yards of fabric, heavy duty zippers, stitching, etc, thats to both to removable covers and to shroud the insert, which is the other reason they're as expensive as they are. If you keep it 10 years being able to swap out the cover can refresh the look as the insert is the most expensive part. if instead you're going for a traditional bean bag, small, up against a wall, or just want to stay cheap, or plan on throwing it away in a couple years, that's fine, but note the ones filled with styrofoam peanuts or anything similar: they compress and don't come back. If you intend to keep a cheap one expect little, or that you'll need to refill it over and over and over. I'd avoid it as it's a nightmare mess to refill, you can't shape it as it has the structural Integrity of sand, and cannot hold you in a sitting position in the middle of a floor The competitors to Lovesac used to ship you a half empty bag and another bag of filler and have you fill it yourself. Not sure if this is still the case. Tldr. They're spendy, but do deliver and can be shaped to act as a chair / bed / recliner for 10 years±. Answer from MethuselaD on reddit.com

Our Favorite Bean Bag Chairs for Adults (That Kids Will Love Too)
July 30, 2025 - Dimensions: 6 by 4.1 feet (width by height) Weight: 95 pounds Cover options: over 150 color, pattern, and fabric combinations Filler: shredded recycled foam Return policy and warranty: There’s a 60-day trial period, and there’s a lifetime warranty (if you buy the bean bag directly from the company). ... We like this outdoor option for indoors too. But due to the chair’s rectangular shape, there’s a bit of a learning curve to making it comfortable.

Any Large Bean Bag Chair Recommendations?
I've had two LoveSacs in the past (SuperSac size) and they were great. They're huge Durafoam-filled bean bags, and they are very sturdy and comfortable. If you live in a US metro area, try Craigslist since they're kinda pricey new (I found and sold mine there when I moved). More on reddit.com

I had no idea bean bag chairs suddenly became luxury items because you could get one for $20 the last time I was in the market for one. Now I am confused about what could possibly make someone pay the equivalent of a new couch for this item. I can’t bring myself to pay Lovesac prices for this—any good alternatives? Does the filling matter? It’s for a kid.

We were gifted one. It's awesome and we use it all the time but I would never spend money on one.

I need to put a beanbag chair against a wall where there is an existing tamper-resistant outlet. I do not need to use the outlet. What do I need for this situation to be safe? I don't want to trap heat, start a fire, get my kid injured. Thanks!

You don't need to do anything, you're fine. An outlet can be covered. Outlets don't generate heat themselves (that usually happens if you plug too much into an outlet or similar) and if it's a TR outlet it already has built in covers.

If there is nothing plugged in, it won’t damage anything. Outlets don’t release heat when unused or even with normal use.
