Nordli or Brimnes bed frame with storage
I've had both beds and prefer the nordli. The brimnes has wider, taller and deeper drawers but doesn't feel any near as sturdy as the nordli. The nordli is made from better quality mdf and has smooth soft close drawers.

Hydraulic storage beds or also known as gaslift storage beds are bed frames with storage capabilities by incorporating a lifting mechanism powered by hydraulics to access the storage compartment underneath the mattress base.
Benefits of hydraulic storage beds:
- Increased storage space: Ideal for small living spaces or bedrooms with limited storage options.
- Easy to use: The hydraulic mechanism makes lifting the mattress convenient, especially for those with physical limitations.
- Clean aesthetics: The storage space is hidden beneath the bed, maintaining a clutter-free look in the bedroom.
- Durability: Hydraulic beds are generally built to withstand regular use and can support a significant amount of weight.
Here are some additional points to consider:
- Material: Hydraulic storage beds are often constructed from sturdy materials like wood or metal to ensure stability and support the lifting mechanism.
- Mattress compatibility: Most hydraulic beds are designed to work with various mattress types. However, it's always recommended to check the manufacturer's specifications for compatibility.
Castlery offers a storage bed with hydraulic mechanism that is also low-profile and perfect for organizing clutter and adding space to a bedroom
How to add more storage space in the bedroom?
Can storage beds develop mold?
Yes, storage beds can develop mold if certain conditions are present. Especially If there is limited air circulation and high moisture. The space underneath the bed, especially with a storage compartment, can trap moisture and restrict air circulation. This creates a favorable environment for mold growth.
Here are ways to prevent mold growth in storage beds:- Ensure proper ventilation:
- Mattress lift: If possible, choose a bed where the mattress lifts up occasionally to allow air circulation underneath.
- Bedroom ventilation: Maintain good air circulation in the bedroom by opening windows regularly and using exhaust fans in bathrooms.
- Store only dry items: Only store clean and dry items in the under-bed compartment. Avoid keeping anything damp or wet.
- Breathable storage: Use breathable containers or fabric bags instead of airtight boxes to allow for some air circulation within the storage area.
- Regular cleaning: Inspect the storage area regularly for signs of moisture or mold.
- Wipe down any damp spots with a disinfectant solution to prevent mold growth.
- You can also use a dehumidifier in the bedroom to control moisture levels, especially in areas with high humidity.

Hi, I am looking for recommendations for bed frames with good storage under it. My girlfriend and I are moving in together and neither of our current beds are going to cut it.
I have the IKEA Malm currently which has drawers but the problems are:
The storage isn’t actually very big. The drawers are wide but not very tall, and if you stuff them then they’re hard to pull in and out.
because of the layout of my room, the bed has to be placed in a corner against a wall with a bedside table next to it, so I can’t access the “top” drawers without moving all my furniture.
The bed SQUEAKS! SO! MUCH! It’s so creeky and noisy!
Any suggestions for a good solid bed frame that doesn’t squeak and has lots of space underneath it for storage?
Hi, So trying to maximize storage space and thinking of getting a new bed that actually has drawers underneath so we can put in bed linens and clothes and such. We currently have an old ikea bed that creaks too much but the space in between we have luggage and clothes. We are able to move the luggage into a closet.
So my question is, did the drawers actually serve as good non regretful storage for you? I’ve seen posts that said they regretted it. You know drawers are too shallow or something and doesn’t serve it’s good purpose kind of thing. Or the bed is more uncomfortable or it creaks more?
And if you liked it, do you have an excellent reco? Not ikea though. More fabric based bed that’s not wooden.
Adding on: live in a small Brooklyn apt so trying to maximize space and make it still cut looking for aesthetics. Feel like storage bins doesn’t look as clean and polished? If you have an alternative please feel free to suggest. Trying to buy a new bed either way (I even contemplated a Murphy bed for space since we have a baby and a toddler but husband is against it).
