What would everyone recommend to someone upgrade their AM4 cpu for one last time. A 1440p gaming PC that is also used for photo/video editing and basic work.

What’s your thoughts on the best option?

It's time to upgrade my 2019 build that currently has a Ryzen 7 2700X CPU. I want to keep using my AM4 motherboard and extend my PC's life for another 3-4 years if possible.

My PC isn't that old so I'm not looking to build a whole new platform. I've got an AMD 5700x, 7900xtx and 64gb of ram that's looking at 50/50 video and photo editing, and gaming.

Biggest concern is Davinci Resolve and 4k video production. On the gaming side I honestly don't do a lot of AAA gaming, mostly emulation.

I've looked at how much the 5950x has come down in price and it's at a point where I can easily buy it if it's worth it.

Any insight on how much performance I'll gain and if at barely over $300 it would be worth it?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for advice on which CPU to pick for upgrading my setup. I built my PC during the COVID era, and since then, the only upgrade I’ve made is adding more RAM.

Here are my current specs:

• MoBo: MSI B550 A-Pro

• CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X

• GPU: RTX 3070 Ti

• RAM: 32GB 3600MHz DDR4

• PSU: Corsair RM 750x Gold

I do some gaming on this PC and usually get 120 FPS on most games, with heavier titles dropping to around 80 FPS. I’m okay with that since I play on a 1440p monitor. However, my main focus is on my graphic design and 3D projects. I want to improve performance primarily for work-related tasks like 4K video editing (After Effects, Blender, etc.).

I’ve seen some opinions online about the 5700X3D (since the 5800X3D isn’t reasonably priced in my region) or the 5900X. However, I haven’t kept up with the latest CPUs and wanted to understand if it would be more efficient to stick with AM4 or make the jump to AM5.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I'm in Europe BTW.

I'm currently jumping from the Ryzen 5700x to a newer AMD CPU for more cores and better clock speeds.

I'm usually editing 2K/4K RAW and H.264 codecs in DaVinci Resolve alongside some VFX work in AE. I'm going to pair the CPU 64GB of DDR5 6000 CL30 RAM and bringing over my 4080 FE from my last build... unless Ryzen will support 6400?

I also frequently game in 4K/120 with DLSS.. I'm usually playing CoD (not Warzone, just the games) and games like GTA, RDR2, Jedi Fallen Order, Ghosts of Tsushima, etc.

I know the 9000 series are about to drop, but the sale prices for the 7900x (and X3D) variant are really, really temping. Either way, I'm going to get better speeds from jumping from 8 cores to 12.

Does the 7900x3D make sense at 4K gaming, or should I just buy the 7900x instead? I'm not sure if 3D V-Cache would even benefit me at 4K, and I also lose the clock speeds for video encoding if I go with the 3D chip.

I've also considered the 7950x/7950x3D but I don't know if that'll be overkill for me right now... and I've heard it runs HOT.

Hey dudes and dudettes, I'm building my first ever PC in Brazil and I'm in doubt if I should invest more $$ in a AM5 build to have a newer generation or if it's better to get faster old generation ram and other components in a AM4 build for video editing and some gaming.

I saw benchmarks for both ryzen 5800x and 7600x for premiere and after effects and are the most "bang for your buck" CPUs we have avaiable here in Brazil that are not super expensive. (The Intel i5 13600k is an option aswell but it's quite more expensive than a 5800x)

I would love to hear some suggestions since I'm building mostly by myself and used few reddit posts and youtube videos as guides.

That's the question. Seen various answers from Google searches about what's "best' but not specifically for Adobe Premiere. I also do a fair bit of 2d compositing/ roto in AE. And some light 3D work... Object tracking/compositing with 3D studio max and crappy scene creation in unity.

I understand the basics about multicore/single core tasks, but still don't know enough about this it all runs to make a choice.

I apologize if this is a basic question, I'm relatively new to building.

I am currently choosing parts for a PC I'm building for my sister. She plans to use it equally for photo editing, light video editing, and gaming. She also wants to be able to multitask well (such as gaming while having Spotify, Discord, and Chrome running.) My main concern is whether I should choose Intel or AMD for the CPU, and which generation.

From what I have seen, Intel CPUs tend to perform better in Adobe applications (which is what she uses for editing). Most of their CPUs also have Quicksync and integrated graphics, which helps with video editing. However, I have seen AMD CPUs at the same price point perform better for gaming and multitasking.

If anyone has advice or recommendations regarding this, I would really appreciate it. :)

like the title says I wanna upgrade my CPU. Right now I still use my old Intel Core i7-6700 which isn't enough for my needs anymore. I want my PC to be able to easily do video editing, productivity in general and a bit of gaming.

Right now I have the Ryzen 7 9700x, the Ryzen 7 9800x3d or the Ryzen 9 9900x in mind. Those are the ones I read the most things about. I tend to buy the 9700x cause it is the cheapest of the three with only 280€ but I don't know if it is good enough for my needs and able to keep up for the next 4-5 years. Which of those is the best for my case in your opinion?

Edit: I looked a bit more into Intel cpu's and I think the Core Ultra 7 265k could also be good for my needs. What is your opinion on it? Why is it good/bad in your mind? And how good is it compared to the Ryzen's I mentioned above? From what I've read it should be better for productivity than the 9700x.

I am looking to upgrade to a new system dedicated to video editing, and would love to do serious gaming on the side too, I am looking at the very minimum a 5070 paired with 32GB of ram, might snag 64 if I can find a reasonable deal somewhere.

What would a great CPU be to accompany this?
I don't know much about cpu architecture or features, only that Intel has Quick sync that I use currently, which will help a lot in my daily work with unoptimized h.256 files.

AMD seems to be great at multitasking and general software workflow, but i see these new XD processors that seem to be optimized for gaming and not general workload,

I would love to clarity or experience from others on this subject!
