I like making soup. I had a big pot and the bottom was so thin it ALWAYS burnt the soup. What would you suggest for a good soup pot?

This is what I have (and love) for large soups. Vollrath Tribute I’ve had mine for 10 years now. If I had it to do again I might go for 12 qt instead of 16 qt. So the key here is that the entire pot is tri-ply, not just the bottom. I don’t buy disc bottom anything. You did say best, and this is certainly one of the best- very well made. The secret price is $152. Almost double what it cost in 2012. I have a selection of this cookware, so ask questions if you’re interested.

r/cookware on Reddit: Stock pot(?) Recommendations
October 13, 2024 -
I'm looking for recommendations for a larger pot. Idk if it's a stock pot or saucepan, but basically I need something for things like chili, stew, spaghetti noodles, etc. I was using some old cheap non stick, but they're starting to flake. I'm a novice, so idk if I need a Dutch oven or another non stick option. I also don't want to fall for all the cute gimmicky stuff all over social media. Any recommendations?

I bought this recently, and so far it has been excellent for pasta. It will probably work well for soups, stews, and chili as well, although extremely long-duration cooking times, like making stock from bones, would benefit from a lid without holes in it, so you aren't losing moisture to evaporation. If you plan on cooking for 3+ people regularly, you might also consider 8 or more quarts of capacity.
