r/AskNYC on Reddit: High-end buffet restaurants
July 13, 2024 -

Hello,

I am staying in NYC a few nights and since I'm a big fan of buffet style restaurants, I would like to visit one during my stay.

Looking at available options, it seems that buffet style places are not that common as I thought.

Do you have any recommendations for some modern, high-end Western cousine buffet restaurants, preferably inside hotels in Manhattan or nearby, that serve dinner buffets (not just breakfast)?

Price is not that important since I won't be eating there every night.

Thank you in advance.

February 23, 2025 - I highly recommend “Mizumi” in Little Neck, Queens and “The Buffet” in Flushing. These places are my favorite AYCE buffets NYC!

Cheapest buffet I've ever been to is Ming Chinese Buffet in Yonkers, Central Ave (6 dollars a person). BEST buffet I've been to is Korean BBQ buffet (Picnic Garden) in Flushing, Queens (~$30 with tip).

Cheapest I have been to is Merry Land Buffet at the Hub, on 149th Street. It's "Chinese". They have a range of prices, from $5.50 for take out (all you can fit into a plastic container, actually $3.50 including a can of soda if you use the coupon on the flyer they are often passing out in front of the restaurant), to $7.15 for eat in, all you can eat. The cheapest for all you can eat that I know of is Punjabi Tadka, in Hell's Kitchen at 48th and 10th, which is $7. It is open 24 hours. I'm gonna give three bests, for soul food, Chinese, and Indian: The best soul food buffet I have been to is Jacob Restaurant in Harlem. It's $7 a pound, and very good food for the price. There's two locations, one at 129th and Lenox, and one at 143rd and Frederick Douglass (which is less crowded). The best Chinese buffet I have been to is New Grand Buffet on the edge of Astoria, on 48th Street. Can't remember what the price was... around $10 I think. They have a lot of seafood there. It's kind of out of my way since I live in uptown Manhattan. The best Indian buffet I have been to (and this is the best I've been to anywhere, the others are only the best I've been to in New York) is Jackson Diner, in Jackson Heights on 74th Street. They only have the buffet, which is all you can eat, on weekends for lunch. I think it's $10 or so. The most unique I would say is International House, at Dyckman and Broadway in Washington Heights. It's the only Dominican buffet I know of, and is open 24 hours. I think it's $11.

r/FoodNYC on Reddit: Best buffet-style deli?
July 5, 2023 -

Hi everyone!

I’m planning a trip to NYC in December with my girlfriend. When I used to visit New York with my dad, he had this habit of hunting down a great deli near our hotel to grab some food for our hotel room.

I’m talking about those places where they have a heated buffet, and you load up your container, paying by the weight. Some of these places also had a little shop and even served sandwiches.

I really want to revisit that nostalgia and find a similar deli in Manhatten. Any suggestions for the best buffet-style delis?

Thanks in advance!

February 3, 2018 - Sushi Para 88 on W14th, Maya on 65th and 1st, and Hometown Hotpot and BBQ in Chinatown are all good AYCE restaurants, but there aren’t many all you can eat buffets in NYC

My birthday is coming up soon and its been years since I've been to an all you can eat buffet. I've been looking into places to visit but Google hasn't been very helpful. My favorite types of food are Ecuadorian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, and southern American, but I'll eat pretty much anything that isn't raw meat or mushrooms, since I'm allergic to mushrooms. I'd love some spots to try out. Thank you!

I'd love to make reservations one day for a brunch buffet in NYC, but I want to know if there's anything truly amazing out there!

Not sure if anyone has done the brunch buffet at the Four Seasons in Washington DC where it's super fancy and there's like unlimited multiple varieties of smoked fish and cheeses and meats and desserts, but if anyone knows something along those lines in NYC, I'd love to know!

I’d like to take my parents (in their 70s) to Manhattan for ~3 nights. One thing they really love is a good breakfast buffet, so hit me with your best recommendations. Even better if it’s free with Titanium status. Hoping to keep it to $600/night or less per room in early June, but willing to splurge a little if it’s worth it.

I've had a hankering for buffets recently. I typically will spend close to $30 - $40 dollars with my partner on a meal when we split the bill. So why not just have a buffet?

Anyways, if you know of any good buffets, please let me know.

I'm aware of some hot pot options and umi Sushi in Queens and Brooklyn.
