This sub has been kinda overrun by questions about the newest addition to Samsung's S-line of phones (not as bad as the old shipper posts, but still) so I figured I would just start a post of the most common questions I found scrolling through the 30+ someodd posts. Hopefully this gets noticed enough that the new posts slow down or stop altogether, but if not, feel free to link it in the comments of any new ones.

• How much?

Samsung has released three models this year: the Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+ which start at $750, $900, and $1000 respectfully. All three start with 128GB of internal storage, with the S10e having 256 and 512GB models, the S10 having a 512GB option, and the S10+ going up to 512GB and 1TB, with the prices varying increasingly with each option.

• How do I take advantage of the trade-in offer?

As you've seen online or in your local Best Buy, you can get up to $650 off of any of the S10 models with a trade-in. However, to do so, you do have to pre-order your new phone(s) in store. And pay attention to that up to $650; the maximum trade-in value of any one device is $550, but older models like a Samsung Galaxy S7 or a Note 5 are only valued up to $150 (which is still higher than their normal trade-in value). The trade-in will be done at the store you pre-ordered at when you pick up your new S10. If you're purchasing an unlocked model, the first part will go onto a Best Buy gift card for the normal value of your phone, and the second part will go onto a coupon to bump your trade-in up to the $150/300/550 (depending what phone you trade in) and that coupon can only be used towards the S10. If you are purchasing a carrier locked model, the full value will go onto a gift card and can be used anywhere in store.

• If the maximum trade-in value is $550, how do I get up to $650 off?

Each of the carriers Best Buy deals with (Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T) are running a mix of BOGO or instant savings offers. Verizon and AT&T are offering $50 off, and Sprint is offering $100 off. So if you are getting a new S10 on Sprint and trading in a top tier device, the total dollar value off the phone is $650.

If you are ordering the unlocked version, pay attention to the stipulations with the price advertised. Certain carriers are offering a discounted price only if you activate the phone in store as a new line with that carrier. If you are just doing a hardware swap for an existing line on your VZW/Sprint/ATT account, or not activating the phone at all, you are purchasing the unlocked model at full price.

• Can I trade in multiple devices towards one S10?

If you are getting a Verizon/Sprint/AT&T locked model, then yes. Once the activation has been verified the full promotional trade-in value will be applied to a gift card/gift cards. So if you are taking advantage of a BOGO offer, you can still get the free phone and put the two old phones towards the one you're paying for. If you're purchasing an unlocked model, then you can still trade in multiple phones, but only one will get the extra value from one, and the normal value from the other(s). So you can still get the $550 off from an iPhone X, but you won't get another $300 for trading in an LG G6, and another $150 from a Galaxy S7. You'll just get the standard value for the other two phones ($52 for the G6 and $55 for the S7, in this example.)

• What value will I get for my device with X damage?

This one's not as easy. Let me start by saying, if it looks like you ran over your phone with a lawnmower (I've seen one or two phones like this, don't think I've ever seen more damage to a mobile device) don't bother trying. Same goes for if the phone won't even turn on. However, if there's some cosmetic damage (scuffs along the sides, scratches on the screen), you will be fine. Now, if there is some more serious damage like any cracks on the screen, back glass, or rear-facing camera lens, then... I'd say just bring it in and give it a go. In the past (and please don't quote me on this, because until March 8th when the phone launches, I cannot tell you for sure if anything has changed in our trade-in system) I have done a trade-in in an instance like this where there was a coupon offered to bump up the value. After going through the prompts and noting the damage (there was some pretty decent spider webbing on the screen) the normal trade-in value that Best Buy offers was, of course, lowered. However, the value of the coupon increased so that the promotional trade-in value remained the same. If that doesn't make sense, think of it like this: promo value for the phone was $200 in this example -- $100 for the phone plus $100 coupon. Because of the damage, the phone went down to $50, but for some reason our system caused the coupon to bump up to $150.

Tl;dr, I dunno, bring it into the store and see what they say.

• Will you price match X site?

No.

• How/when do I get my Galaxy Buds?

Ask your mobile associate for instructions on how to redeem the offer from Samsung for the free Galaxy Buds when you pick up your phone on March 8th. It is an offer from Samsung so don't go into the store expecting to leave with a new phone and a new set of earbuds. The gist of it is that, on the new phone, you download the Shop Samsung app and provide proof of pre-order and the IMEI of your new phone. Samsung will then mail them out to you 6-8 weeks after your purchase. There is also a limited amount of these (I believe around 163,000 or so) so be sure to fulfill your offer as soon as possible.

This is only if you pre-ordered through Samsung directly, you instead get a $130 eGift Card for Samsung's website. If you pre-ordered through Best Buy, the offer is still available, and will still be redeemed through the Shop Samsung app.
