Update

Purchased a Novosbed Firm, and we're hoping it works out. Included our thought process below.

Hello r/BuyCanadian, I'm looking for a firm mattress for my partner.

About our needs:

• 6'4"

• 290lbs (give or take)

• back or stomach sleeper

• prefers a very firm mattress

• prefers foam; does not like spring

• does not like pillow top

• available in twin XL

• prefer 12" in height for mattress (minimum 10" in height)

• something that is as close to sleeping on the floor essentially

• under $2k Cdn

Willing to take hybrid suggestions if there aren't any good foam alternatives.

Favourite mattresses tested so far are:

1. Nectar Premier Copper Firm

2. Temperpedic ProAdapt Orange / Firm

3. Temperpedic Support 2.0 Firm

The Nectar was a smidge more comfortable than the Temperpedics for my partner.

We want to avoid spend ~3-5k on a Temperpedic, and we are not a fan of Nectar.

We have not tried the Novosbed Firm or Logan & Cove Luxury Firm, and are asking you kind folks to help us with your experiences and feedback.

The Logan & Cove Luxury Firm sounds great, but the pillow top is a deal breaker.

A Novosbed Firm sounds like it meets our needs, and well, before we pull the trigger, we want to hear from you.

Is the Novosbed comparable to the Logan & Cove Luxury Firm? How firm is it?

Essentia

• Exceeds our budget of under $2k by several thousands

• Most basic mattress starts at $2.5k Cdn

• None of their products are certified organic, and yet their factories are?

• This wouldn't bother me so much if their marketing was less gimmicky

Silk + Snow (all versions)

• Doesn't appear to be firm enough based on reviews and feedback from reddit and rfd, with exception to possibly the organic hybrid

• Has a showroom to test the mattresses in Toronto

• Mostly good to okay reviews online

• Some reports of poor quality control (sloppy handiwork, poor stitching) and poor customer service (trouble with returns)

• Remains a contender since I'm looking for a medium / medium-firm hybrid mattress myself

• Reddit search links not included since there's many if you Google them

Endy - the basic memory foam version

• Definitely a good maybe for us

• Some reddit reviews describe as a slab, and this is a good thing

• Appears to be the third back-up option if the Novosbed Firm (and then the Douglas Summit) doesn't work out

• Many reddit reviews available

Lapensee

• Was not a contender because showroom is too far away, and lack of transparent and online policies

• Could not find their return policy or trial period easily on their website

• Would visit the place if I lived in Ottawa, since a showroom is located right by Kanata Costco

• Hybrid bed, and not preferred by my partner

• Doesn't appear to be firm enough based on reviews

• Banned on rfd, and not sure why (Then again, I was also banned when I attempted to open an account because I am supposedly holding a second account and yet none of us has a rfd account) shrug

• Reddit reviews online has a suspicious pattern that follows a formula of describing its features ("coils", "hybrid", "Canadian"), unwrapping experience ("inflates quickly", "vacuum sealed", "rolled"), first day experience, and then 30-day / one-month experience

• Though the reviews may be sincere on reddit, it feels planted with different usernames

• The referral bonuses in the reviews make it seem like a MLM

Novosbed

• Responsive customer service on reddit, and quick to answer questions plus customer service is liked by Mattress Underground

• Very hard to find reddit reviews on the Novosbed Firm (plenty on the medium)

• Mild hesitation since there are more reviews about the Logan & Cove than the Novosbed mattresses on reddit

• Logan & Cove Luxury Firm has a pillow top, which is a deal-breaker for us and it's a hybrid (not preferred)

• Hard to decipher differences between Novosbed, Douglas, and the Endy

• Endy, Douglas, and Novosbed all have machine washable covers, which is a bonus

• Heights: Endy is 10", Douglas Summit is 12", and Novosbed is 11" (13" with topper)

• Differences between Douglas (Original, Alpine, Summit) mattresses is mainly the height, which provides increased cooling, pressure point, and motion

• Novosbed is purportedly more firm than the Douglas Summit, and has more dense foam layers (from GoodMorningBed's reddit replies and this link:

• Mad-elph's comment below cinched the purchase for us, and the firm topper provides increased flexibility and option to make it more firm

• Feedback for Good Morning Beds: Wish the website was clearer on which mattress is the most firm, and then have a breakdown by type (most firm foam, most firm hybrid, most firm spring, etc.)
