Simple Homemade Edible Gift Ideas - Simple Bites
November 1, 2024 - I think if we’re being honest, a box of holiday cookies is what most people want to receive as an edible gift. It’s just a top tier treat, especially when presented in a vintage tin with a lid. Here are a few more favourites. Homemade Salted Caramels with Nutmeg ~ Perhaps THE most well-received treat I have ever gifted.
Easy Gifts (to make and give)
One of the best gifts that I have ever gotten was a jar of pickled green beans from my a friend of a friend, and those things were absolutely delicious and they lasted about ten minutes. That is always the sign of a good gift, though, they don not last long. ... I love the look of the treats in the jar @ChesterV. With the holiday season coming up, what homemade food gifts are you planning to make/gift this year?
My parents like to make Bailey’s creme liqueur as gifts. Super easy and always a crowd pleaser. Basically just cream, whiskey, chocolate and maybe nutmeg or something, idk. I can dig up the recipe if anyone’s interested. Edit: 1.5c whisky. Irish whisky preferred but Ive used moderately cheap bourbon and can’t tell the difference. 14oz can sweetened condensed milk 1 pint half and half 3 tbsp chocolate syrup 2 tsp instant coffee, unflavored 2-3 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 tsp almond extract Combine all ingredients except half and half/dairy of your choice. Blend until smooth, store in fridge for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, add half and half. Should keep for another 2 weeks after adding the half and half. More on reddit.com

i’ve done breads and dipping mixes, compound butters, apple butter and hot cocoa mix…all relatively easy, especially when making multiples. the most complex one was the compound butter and only because i didn’t let the butter warm enough. More on reddit.com

December 7, 2023 -
For the past few years I've tried to save money by making gift baskets of homemade food items. It's fun to spend a couple of weeks mass producing different treats, and it feels more meaningful that I've made everything by hand. Here are some of the things I've made in the past: little jars of Dulce de Leche, cherries soaked in maraschino liquor, limoncello, beef jerky, candied pecans, bottles of balsamic reduction, and "Old Fashioned/Manhattan kits" (not homemade, but it fit with the theme).
I'm running a bit low on inspiration for this year. Does anyone have ideas for food that can be made in bulk?

50 DIY Edible Gift Ideas You Can Make Right Now
1 month ago - This process is almost embarrassingly ... in a food processor with wine, a garlic clove, and black pepper; blend. But you do need to cue up your common sense. If there are any rinds that look waxen or suspect (or taste too funky for you), scrape them off. And while a whole wheel of molten Camembert could whip right in, no problem, any harder, aged cheeses like Parmesan should be chopped or grated first. You’ll know. This is the single most genius way to turn a tomato into a homemade gift...
