You can use either adapter. Buy the 20W if you’re plugging your iPhone 16 in with a USB-C cable. Buy the 30W if you’re using a compatible MagSafe charger. The MagSafe is less efficient, hence needing a larger wattage outlet to fast charge your iPhone (attain 50% charge in about 30 minutes). Don’t worry about using even higher wattage chargers (e.g. 60W or even 100W outlets). Your phone’s charge controller will only draw what it can use, so there is no risk of damaging your phone. The benefit of getting a larger charger for some is that they can use the same brick to charge larger devices like iPads or MacBooks. Answer from anteros0 on reddit.com

What is the best charger for iPhone 16 Pr… - Apple Community
I’m been using a pure.gear 30W charger and I really like it a lot. ... Thank you very much, personally coming from android, I am used to charging from 0 to 100% in less than 20 minutes with 120W, so for me, the faster the charging just out of habit, the better it is for me. If I'm not mistaken iPhone 16 pro max supports up to 40W usbc and 20W in Magsafe, first of all correct me if I'm wrong and in case what I just said is right, why there is no 40W adaptor?

What About Wireless and MagSafe iPhone Charging?

If your nightstand is cluttered with AirPod, Apple Watch, and iPhone cables, it's time to streamline your power routine with a wireless charging pad. We assembled a list of our favorite wireless charging stations for Apple products, with phone-only and multi-device options at various price points.

iPhone 12 and newer models offer MagSafe as a faster alternative to Qi wireless charging. MagSafe allows you to wirelessly charge your device at up to 15W. Check out our favorite MagSafe chargers, but remember that you won't get the same speeds as with a wired charger and the right adapter. Most Qi chargers run at a slower rate of 7.5W, though Qi2 chargers can handle 15W.

r/iphone on Reddit: What charger can I use for iPhone 16?
April 4, 2025 -

My husband and I just upgraded to 16s and we both had 11s before. When I got the new phones the person at the store said I need to use USB-C to USB-C chargers and that a regular USB to USB-C wouldn’t work. We already have a bunch of usb to usb-c chargers at home because of other devices we have and I’m scared to try to use one to charge my phone because of what the man at the store said (don’t want to ruin a brand new phone). I’ve googled and looked at different forums and seem to be getting differing answers so I’m just generally confused.

r/iphone on Reddit: What Power Adapter does iPhone 16 Pro Max use?
September 16, 2024 -

I plan to finally upgrade my 6-year-old iPhone 8 to iPhone 16 Pro Max. Back in the day, the charger was included in the box, but now you need to buy it separately (which is not a problem, don`t get me wrong)
I just got confused when I started to look for the charger for my new iPhone... Do I need the 20W or 30W, if I plan to charge my phone with the USB-C cable? Also what kind of cable do I need, cause the 1m cable included in the box would not be long enough for me, I need at least 2m to feel comfortable.

Thank you in advance ;)

Edit:
I Just ordered this cable: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B0BF9JTL8Z/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=A2CUVTF1JUW5R0&th=1
And this adapter: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B0CX1L2SQ8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_6?smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&psc=1

I hope I did everything right, thanks to everyone who replied, I really appreciate it!

r/UsbCHardware on Reddit: Best USB-C Charger wattage for new iphone 16?
September 14, 2024 -

So, the new iphones will apparently be capable of up to 45w charging.

I'm looking at either the Anker 45w 713 Gan II charger, the Anker 65w 715 Gan II charger, or possible one of the Ugreen nexodes.

My question is, if the iphone can charge up to 45w (maybe 39w at the high end in real performance?) should I just simply use a 45w charger or is it better to have headroom up to 65w?

Sources seem to indicate the iPhone 16 will want 5V-15V⎓3A. A charger with a 3.3V-16V⎓3A PPS profile would be suitable. Interesting... For my Samsung S24 Ultra, I like to stick with a charger that has 3.3-V11V⎓5A PPS. Several of my chargers that can support that, lack a profile that ranges up to 16V. So saying to just get a charger that supports Samsung's 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0 isn't a safe bet. I don't commonly see that without the charger also including 3.3V-21V⎓5A, with the exception of several Anker chargers. This one would fit well with your needs: Anker 45W USB C Charger Block, Foldable PPS Fast Charger for iPhone 16/15 and More Series, Supports Super Fast Charging 2.0 for Galaxy S24 Ultra https://a.co/d/6uHfLFN On paper the Anker 313 actually looks to be more versatile than the Anker 713: It supports more profiles, and would actually be suitable for both iphone 16 45W charging, and Samsung 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0. Whereas Anker 713 would work fully for the iPhone 16, it wouldn't be suitable for the Samsung side of things because it lacks any profile with 5A output. The 313 is actually a little bit cheaper than the 713, which i find rather odd. Even if you never intend on getting a Samsung. Ime, a more versatile charger ends up winning in my book...
