Does the iPhone 16e need a screen protector?
As noted in our iPhone 16e review, it's worth equipping Apple's latest phone with a reliable screen protector.
The iPhone 16e's previous-generation Ceramic Shield glass display is less durable than the screens of the best iPhones, and even the flagship iPhone 16 models are susceptible to accidental damage.
We highly recommend screen protectors as an accessory for any new smartphone purchase. They're relatively affordable and convenient compared to the cost and hassle of screen repairs or replacement.
Our extensive testing of the best iPhone cases broadly demonstrates that it's also worth adding a case to the phone for comprehensive protection. See our guide to the best iPhone 16e cases.
Do I need a screen protector for iPhone 16?
The benefits of screen protection might seem straightforward, but there are several reasons to consider one if you haven’t already:
1. Scratch-Resistance
Even the toughest glass will show scratches and scuffs from daily use. Keys, coins, and other hard objects in pockets and bags will leave marks on your screen.
2. Shatter Protection
While screen protectors won't make your iPhone screen invincible, they can provide an extra layer that might prevent the glass from shattering upon impact.
3. Smudge and Fingerprint Reduction
Some screen protectors have what is called an oleophobic coating, which helps give it a smooth touch and reduces the appearance of fingerprints and smudges. This will keep your phone clean longer, and the screen will be visibly clearer. If you don’t use a screen protector, the natural coating on your phone can wear down quickly.
4. Enhanced Privacy
Privacy screen protectors prevent others from seeing your screen from certain angles, which is useful for protecting sensitive information in public places.
5. Blue Light Filter
Some screen protectors feature a blue light filter, which reduces light intensity and filters peak blue light.Filtering blue light can help improve eye comfort when starting at screens for extended periods. It also helps reduce the negative effects on your sleep by promoting the natural release of melatonin
6. Resale Value
Screen protectors help to keep your screen in pristine condition and can increase the resale value of your iPhone when you decide to upgrade.

My iPhone 16 Pro Max screen already cracked just one month after getting it. I know it comes with Ceramic Shield but clearly that’s not enough. I used a cheap screen protector and now I really regret it.
After spending so much on the phone, I’m definitely not putting one of those low quality 3 pack protectors on it again. I’m looking for the best iPhone 16 Pro Max screen protector something high quality, easy to install and that doesn’t interfere with Face ID.
I’m also open to privacy screen protector options, but only if they don’t make the screen too dark, affect clarity, or mess with touch sensitivity.
If you’ve found a screen protector for the iPhone 16 Pro Max or iPhone 16 Pro that actually holds up please share the name and your experience with it. I’d really appreciate the recommendation just trying to avoid another expensive mistake.
Hi,
iPhone 16 Pro Max on the way ... I have read a lot of topics on here about screen protectors. This is what I found out so far:
Spigen EZ Fit: has currently problems with sticking on the edges, bad customer support
ZAGG: expensive and some report problems
Belkin: expensive and collects dust like crazy
Torras: black borders around
ESR: Rainbow effects, sharp edges
Flolab: Has problems with the slightly curved screens and the bezels (they said update is coming soon)
...
So right now I am not even sure what the current situation is with these protectors. They range from 5$ to 50$ a piece and they seem to get updated in the next couple of weeks because they had problems with apples thinner borders.
What is the current best bang/buck screen protector for 16 Pro (Max)?
EDIT: Please don't recommend brands or modells of protectors you use on your iphone 15s or 14s or so on because we are talking about 16 Pro (Max) here ... It seems that companies have troubles with the new 16 (!) model specs.
