I was inspired by someone else's idea too and decided to install a strip in my car. It made using the trunk convenient and enjoyable. Every time I turn on the lights - my mood only raise=) I initially doubted whether it was possible so easily connect the strip without any resistors - it turned out that it was easier than I thought. The main thing that the strip was designed for 12 volts. First, I installed led strip light - glued under the shelves with the speakers, laid the wires, tucked and tamped.

You might be looking to a EL Wire. theres heaps of colors. Have a look on ebay for it and its pretty thin so it should do what you need. Mounting it to a door panel might be a bit hard. but it should be possible. More on reddit.com

If you like them that is all that matters! When I got my Fiesta ST it had the led strips you could change the colors on and I thought it was awesome for a day or two then I just left them off - that would be the only downside but that was just me.

Most of the kits I've been finding come with 4 strips, which would work great if I only wanted to illuminate the footwells or the underseat area. But I also want to put lighting in more visible areas like under the hood of the dashboard, in the cupholders, and maybe some on the doors, but I don't know how to do that without having there be an ugly visible LED strip.
I'm totally confused as to what kind of products I should get for this type of setup and I'm not even sure if it's possible unless it's factory made. Whatever I get, I plan on installing it myself to get the positioning right, and then taking it to a mechanic so that the wiring won't be visible.
If anybody can help me with out with what kind of kits/products I should buy, I would really appreciate it. I'm looking for pink lighting primarily, but would prefer to be able to change the color. Also, I don't care if the lights flash or pulse along with music, but it would be a bonus if that setting was available.

there are quite a few different sites you can go to for LED kits. oracle=really expensive, but lots of unique items superbrightleds.com=middle of the road in price, but good quality. selection is fantastic.

I found some flexible little led modules in 10k color temp, and wired them directly to the trunk and door lights for the footwell/trunk lights. Works perfectly now no relays, mess of wires, and one less add a fuse. I wired the color led strips solely to the on off switch.
