Trying to furnish our new home and quickly realizing that the quality is low even on items with a high price tag. We’ve looked at higher end places like Lazzoni and Restoration Hardware, and the quality isn’t much better than less expensive places like Ashley and Raymour & Flanigan, whose prices are also too high for the quality.

We have never bought new furniture. All of our stuff is collected over the years from people giving away their stuff. We want to start fresh and don’t mind spending a bit, but it just sucks to spend so much and get something that feels subpar.

Anyone have any recommendations for stores with high quality furniture, or even for any artists who might take commissions for handmade pieces? We’re looking for a couch, a bed and a kitchen table/chair set.
