If you’re sensitive to smells, a foam mattress does emit a very strong chemical odor that takes a long time to dissipate. You might be better off staying in an Airbnb for a couple of days while you set up your apartment. Living Spaces (furniture store) can do same or next day delivery on most furniture. They have a bed section. If you have a location where you are now, go test the mattresses and set up delivery as soon as you arrive or ask the building manager to let them in and you’ll have it waiting when you arrive. If you live in America, Costco and Sam’s club provide amazing value in mattresses. We went to a mattress store, decided we wanted to buy a hybrid mattress after trying out a variety of models. Then we asked them what makes a good mattress, and they basically answered that the number of coils. We found a king size mattress on Sam’s Club for like $500, and asked them if there was any reason to buy the $2k mattresses from their store. They said there was no reason, so we went with Sam’s Club, and have been very happy since. More on reddit.com

If you sleep very hot I would strongly recommend against a mattress in a box. They're all memory foam of various types and treatments, and every single one will be warmer than a traditional mattress. I sleep hot and the fiance wanted one of these Douglas beds, Canadian company so I was already on board but MAN I am sweating constantly in that thing. It looks gross now compared to new because I sweat into it constantly and everything I've read seems to suggest it's a fundamental problem with memory foam beds.
