Are Mattress Toppers Worth It For Side Sleepers?
Is A Latex Is Memory Foam Mattress Topper Better For Side Sleepers?
What makes the Dosaze DreamAlign Mattress Topper better than my current mattress or topper?
It's easy: targeted support and long-lasting quality.
Other brands just ship you a rolled-up piece of scrap foam. Dosaze hand-crafted our zoned topper for targeted pain relief where you need it, and extreme comfort everywhere else.
Plus, we offer a risk-free trial and 3-year warranty, so there's literally nothing to lose and only good sleep to gain.

Our amazing mattress took a crap on us during the pandemic after 13 years of use. At the time, we didn't feel comfortable going to stores to try out new mattresses so we purchased and returned several different ones from online. In 2022, we settled on the Bear Hybrid mattress which they no longer sell. I wish I would have returned it but now it's too late. It's too firm for us as side sleepers. We've tried quite a few toppers and have had no luck. Several of the memory foam toppers we've tried lose their shape/support after a few weeks of use and I just feel like I'm sinking into the bed. We also recently tried a 3 inch soft latex topper from SOL and I was still waking with shoulder and hip pain. This has been so frustrating because I wake up with neck, hip and shoulder issues almost daily.
Here's what we've tried so far with no luck:
-
Mainstays 2 Inch Gel Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper (Walmart)
-
The DC Soft Topper from DreamCloud Mattress
-
Sleep Innovations 3 Inch Cooling Gel Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper (Amazon)
-
The Coop Retreat Mattress Topper
-
Viscosoft Serene Hybrid Mattress Topper
-
Pure Green Natural Latex Mattress Topper- Soft (Sleep on Latex)
We need something plush for side sleeping but still supportive. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Mattress shopping for the first time ever and holy moly am I overwhelmed by the choices - every time I think I'm about settle on one, I find completely opposing reviews with some saying it's like sleeping on a cloud and others saying the same mattress is like lying on plywood.
So please.. any personal recommendations that fit the following criteria:
Side sleeper 90% of the time. Occasional stomach sleeper, physically cannot sleep on my back.
I'm 5'2" & 110lb. I do like a cushy feel and hate sleeping on mattresses that are too hard, but I do also want to make sure it's providing support long term. (I figure I can always get a memory foam topper if it's a little too firm to start with?).
Around the $800 mark for QUEEN size. Willing to go up to $1000 if it's really worth it, but absolutely no more than that. Original budget was $600 but I was struggling with that price point so upped it to $800.
Decent cooling - I don't need any fancy expensive cooling technology, but I do tend to overheat when sleeping
Available in Canada. Ideally with 100-365 night sleep trial to make sure it's right for me.
I have been looking at:
Douglas "Original"
Casper "Dawn"
Endy "The Endy"
Silk and Snow "The S&S Mattress"
Sealy Posturepedic Optimum® Billie Mattress
Has anyone with similar criteria bought any of these, or others? Any insights much appreciated!
I bought a massively discounted "medium" Sealy a month ago, and it's way, way too firm for me. On morning 1 I already had that horrible full body soreness + tingles, and by now my back hurts basically all the time. I'm thinking of buying a Comfort Option mattress topper, and deciding between the 2" Copper Memory Foam and the 2" X10 Medium-soft responsive foam. Your thoughts on the differences between these two, whether I should avoid Comfort Option in favor of something else, etc? I'm a side sleeper, allergic to down, about 110 lbs, and trying to spend under $200 (but willing to pay more for a very good topper)
