For those that brought mechanical keyboards to the office, which did you use and what were your factors of consideration?
I've been task by a friend who works in a more formal workplace setting (law firm) to recommend him a good mechanical keyboard. I've not worked in such prim and proper settings so looking for advice for something suitable.
I need a new keyboard for the office but would like something that won't drive my coworkers mad with the clicks. Any recommendations for around $100. What key caps should I be looking for when I do my search. I want something with maybe some RGB

I am looking to do a custom keyboard. I work in excel a lot so a full size board is a must. Looking for recommendation on a keyboard and keycaps. I will likely get gateron black ink V2 switches as I have them on a different keyboard and really like the feel.
I have been looking at the keychron Q6 or V6. I like the ideas of a metal case.
I am looking for a keyboard recommendation. My requirements are: -non-RGB -Works just fine with out the installation of drivers. My company has a strict policy on software installation.
-Mechanical. -Good for typing in a quiet office setting as to not be obnoxious to those around me. -Not flashy or framed with odd colors. -Wireless would be great, but not required. -full sized keyboard /w number pad -hopefully no non-standard buttons (don’t need media controls or other things that might require drivers to power)
It seems 95% of mechanical keyboards have RGB which scream gamer nerd, while I just want a quality typing experience that isn’t distracting to those around me. It’s also amazing how many keyboards are missing number pads. They are essential for number crunching.
Edit: so far I have found:
-
iKBC CD108 V2 Ergonomic Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Silent Red Switch (not needed media player)
-
CHERRY G80-3000 Keyboard - Wired - USB - MX Black Silent Switch (large, flexible body, odd riser heights, keys that rub off are all cons I have read about)
-
FILCO Majestouch 2 HAKUA (Cherry MX Silent Red) Keyboard
Hello, I'm looking for a mechanical keyboard to work at the office. I want a wireless keyboard that does not make clicky noise and I'd prefer some quiet and soft sound, with smooth keys travel. Also I don't care about RGB lights, I want a fully assembled keyboard and I need full size with numpad
I don't know much about brands and switches, but I have found online that a good budget recommendation is the Xinmeng X98 pro. It is available in white jade switches.
Does this keyboard has not too noisy keys and has decent quality?
Do you have other recommendations?
Thinking of getting a g915 for a do it all keyboard or mx keys and and a dedicated gaming keyboard.
Thoughts?
Hello! Any suggestions on a good Mechanical keyboard for office use?? I've been planning to get one for a while now, but I still can't decide which one to buy lol. Preferably 75% (since I edit videos and I use the F keys) and around 2-3.5K budget. Better if it's available on Shopee/Lazada but any suggestions will do lol Thank you!
Hi, I'm learning game development + 3D modeling, Should I choose a Gaming keyboard or a regular full-sized keyboard "With Numpad"
What you guys say?
Looking for a keyboard that’s quiet, comfy, and built for long hours. Got any favorites or go-to brands?
I am looking for the best mechanical keyboard that can handle gaming at night and normal typing during the day. I play a decent amount of FPS and MMO games, but I also work on the same PC, so I do not want something that feels like a pure gaming toy that is annoying to type on for hours.
I am not super deep into the keyboard hobby yet, so I would prefer something that works great out of the box without needing to lube switches, mod stabilizers or build it from scratch. I care about key feel, build quality, and not having horribly loud clicky noise that makes everyone in the house hate me. Bonus if it has a smaller layout like TKL so I have more mouse space, but I am open to full size if it is worth it.
For those who actually game and type on the same board every day, what is the best mechanical keyboard you have used that balances both? What switches are you using, and do you feel any real advantage in game compared to a normal keyboard, or is it more about feel and comfort? Real world experiences would help a lot more than just marketing claims.
Hello,
I need some advice. I need to procure a handful of full size (100%) mechanical keyboards for a very quiet office setting (the workers are on microphones and their calls are constantly recorded). They are currently using some older mech-membrane Logitech gaming keyboards, but they are out of production (they were mainly using them for macro functions but there is a solution for that already, so macro keys aren't a requirement), and we want to get replacements ready for the future.
We did some testing with Logitech G G413 SE's which the workers say feel fantastic and are great to type on, but we only have one with brown switches and thats already too loud. I think its the bottoming out of the plastic keys on the aluminum case. I'm thinking about just getting one with Reds and see if that is any better but I kind of doubt it, as the brown are really quiet when you type careful and slowly on it, but this is not an option. The other one I was looking ast was the Logitech K845
Are there easily orderable (10-20), really silent mechanical keyboards? I do have to keep budget in mind (100-150 USD per), so whipping up some custom boards is unfortunately not in the cards. As much as I'd like to get a really nice base and put in silent switches, orings, foam etc. myself, thats just not sustainable. PBT (shine through) Keycaps would be a big plus. I know that bottoming out will always produce some noise, but it really needs to be diminished as much as possible.
While gaming keyboards are an option, ideally I'd want to shoot for something thats a bit more plain, but thats okay if there are no other options.
Any suggestions are very welcome.
Any keyboards that will have all the needed keys for programming and also not be bad for gaming? (Low responsiveness etc)
Hi everyone,
I see lots of posts everywhere showing keyboards which are dedicated for gaming usage. But in my case I use them for programming/office only. I love the touch and feel when I press a key whereas a rubber dome cannot give you (the only exception I accept is the keyboard of an Apple MacBook Pro).
What about you? Do you use your board(s) for gaming only or for office use or programming? Lets talk a little bit about it. Would be happy to see your opinion here, for example, which keyboard you prefer for non-gaming usage. You can also post an image, if you like.
Regards, Thomas
I am at my computer (on and off) from 5am until 11pm. I need the backlit keys to see when I turn the lights off, but I don't need a light show. Apex 7 lights up the room at night. I want mechanical keys with switches I can change in case one goes bad as it did on my Apex 7. What are others using as their best work keyboard?
I previously swore by Das Keyboard for the past 10 years but after my latest purchase where the keys just fly right off the keyboard with slight pressure (pulling the key "towards me" ) I've sworn off the brand.
What is everyone recommending these days? Bonus if not made in China (I know..DK is made in Taiwan.. at least mine was )
