Until MicroLED is affordable to the general consumer, or even fanatics willing to spend that “little extra”, OLED will remain king. Can’t imagine the technology will be cost effective for the general consumer for another 5-10 years.

MicroLED is deffo better tech then OLED as there is no brightness limitation and no near black issues. I still think we are 5 years or more away from 65 to 77" MicroLED TVs that dont cost 5 figures.

Saving up for a 75-77" 4K Dolby Vision/HDR, ATMOS, good viewing angles, living room will be semi-light to dark (get migraines if too bright). My wife has seen the LG C4 in Costco and awed by the clarity of it. What can give me sorta OLED experience but miniLED? Would you recommend mini-led? Plan on hooking it up to Q990C (or D). I'm sure I'm leaving something out. I apologize. Budget: $2k-obviously less makes me happy.

I just added the 2024 Hisense U8 75" miniLED to my TV lineup. Mounted it in my Master bedroom and I am very pleased with it. Picture is crisp and clear. Gaming with my xBox has brought me a renewed joy for Madden and the new EA College football. I paid $1500 for it at Best Buy. Like other TV's hardwired ethernet only get 96mbps because it has a 10/100 card. But the Wi-fi card is wi-fi7 and connects at over 800mbps, just short of my mas speed of 1Gig. I paired it with the Hisense 3.1.2 soundbar and that combo provides amazing sound connected thru eArc. I have always had Sony, LG, Samsung, & TCL TV's. I still have 1 of each of them in my home and I always thought of Hisense as a cheap brand, but not any more. It's on sale right now, at least here in OKC for $1400. I do enjoy my 65" LG OLED as well, but it's more expensive and to be honest, unless you are an AV elitist with a pixel or bloom test kit in your drawer, you will like the Hisense and the savings just as much. Good luck with your purchase.

February 12, 2025 - SED/FED died this way - LCDs were (and still are) vastly inferior to SED, yet it didn't matter because they improved enough to be good enough long before Canon (for SED) and Sony (for FED) could get to market. February 13, 2025 - That means it would be unfair and hugely misguided to expect them to offer the same performance as an OLED TV, but having spent more hours locked in our windowless test room, running the three head-to-head I have one key take away: they need to stop trying so hard. What do I mean by that? There are two key things. First is black level. Mini LED is often pitched as a rival to OLED, with companies claiming its zoned panel design, which lets it charge sections of the screen, rather than all of it as a normal LED does, means it can offer much deeper blacks.
