Higher quality USA-made sectionals start at $10,000. High end European sectionals start at $20,000. For background on sofa and sectional build quality, see this comment. High end European would be Minotti, Poltrona Frau, Cassina, Baxter, B&B Italia, Cappellini, de Sede, etc. These brands are designer pieces and meant to be heirlooms, hence the huge price tag. A somewhat cheaper German brand to the (mostly) Italian offerings above is Himolla, which makes modern modular sectionals you can configure. Upholstery & COM As for machine washable upholstery, you will need to ask on a case-by-case basis. To start, fabrics should have a "W" cleaning code. However, that does not mean you can throw it in the washing machine. If you can't find anything in the brand's fabric library, consider COM. COM or Customer's Own Material means you acquire your own material for a furniture brand or maker to use. If you go this route and want high durability, consider looking for upholstery adhering to Association for Contract Textiles (ACT) guidelines. Most fabric libraries—even for premium furniture brands—have not been tested to and may not meet these more stringent ACT standards. In particular, the Physical Properties test methods such as Seam Slippage, Breaking Strength, and Pilling represent forces operating on fabric that the Wyzenbeek (double rub) or Martindale test methods do not. Despite what some think, a rub count value is not the ultimate nor the only criterion for a hard-wearing fabric! Since many brands do not offer ACT certified fabrics to residential customers, you would need to order them as COM. The issue here is that for some brands, COM makes a piece super-customized and therefore ineligible for returns or refunds. Some makers simply do not warrant COM. You will need to check. Last caveat: because of high strength synthetic fibers, some ACT materials feel scratchy, rough, or unpleasant against skin. You may need to compromise somewhat if "hand" is important. A hot tip I got from the buy it for life subreddit is that sofa manufacturers have crapped out on the cushion foam over the last ten years. My four year old couch cost $2000 but was really bumming me out because the cushions were pretty well ruined. I ordered new foam from Foam Factory for $400 (I think) because of a recommendation from someone, and it’s better than new. So keep that in mind for the future! It saved me replacing the whole couch. i have read probably thousands of reviews on different brands/sofas so far - and am going in circles. i want something super comfortable and nice-looking as the main furniture in our living room to have guests sit on, watch TV, etc. needs to hold up to kids and cats/dog. don't want performance fabric - needs to be PFA/PFC free (look it up!) and i just need a basic color - white or tan. willing to spend between $2-8k for a couch i would expect to last 5-10+ years.
i am leaning against the "cloud" style - though it seems comfy, lots of negative reviews about not holding up for multiple years and just looking messy.
would love a trusted furniture brand with good customer service. i have researched everything from maiden home, mantle, urban natural, restoration hardware, floyd, sundays, crate and barrel, pottery barn, west elm, article, 7th avenue, benchmade modern, sixpenny... and all seem to have some issues. was going to look at design within reach and room and board next, unless anyone has a magic answer!
does this exist?!
EDIT UPDATE: We narrowed it down to Room + Board (Weber), Design within Reach (Emmy) and some Benchmade ones as they all were solidly made, with OEKO-text or greenguard certified fabrics, in our price range, and mostly made in US. HOWEVER we then figured out we just don't have enough room for a sectional with a chaise in our living room, so we hit pause. I think I will try to do Room + Board when we resume, their furniture and company values are awesome, lots of it made in US and with sustainability in mind!
We did however just buy a sleeper sofa for our guest room from Innovation Living (Neah model) and absolutely love it! Very well made and SUPER comfy for guests to sleep on, as it uses the American Leather mechanism instead of the regular sleeper sofa steel bar contraptions that companies like West Elm use :)

I'm about to move to a new house that has a great large entertaining space. We want a large sectional sofa that will last a long time, fit the look we want (examples below), and be as comfortable as possible. We haven't settled on an exact budget yet, but we are willing to pay for something that will last.
I would really appreciate any help people can give for suggestions, what would you buy if budget wasn't a concern?
We're looking for something with the look of the BenchMadeModern Skinny Fat Sectional, or the RoomAndBoard Easton, or possibly the Restoration Hardware Cloud line. Unfortunately I've seen some pretty negative things about all of those online (though the Easton seems to be a possible contender still).

A couple months ago we took the risk of buying a big sectional couch online. I was pretty nervous about it as I've never done that before. We ended up spending around $4k for a 7 section modular couch from Burrow and so far are very happy with it. Obviously I cant give you a 10 year report or anything but the online reviews of their stuff seem to be unanimous in their praise. Some reasons we like it: With all 7 pieces it's a big, L shaped couch with a chaise on the end. It's modular and really clever in how it fits together. If we need to move, if we want to change up how it looks we can do it. Even the arms can be repositioned. The fabric is really nice for any spills. I dont recall the material but it looks great and we've already had our toddler vomit dark brown on one of the cushions and it cleaned off very easily. The build quality is excellent and I am sure it will last us a long time. The only thing that I'd maybe complain about is that I would probably prefer a slightly softer cushion as it's what I'm used to. But I assume it was also get softer since it's still pretty new.
