I own two summer suits – a 100% linen suit from Todd Snyder (purchased a few years ago on sale for ~$300) and a cotton/linen seersucker blend from AKOG. TS works well and is good value for money especially purchased on sale. You can also purchase secondhand at fairly reasonable prices. AKOG is about the same price as TS but harder to find on sale. They actually just dropped new summer suiting some very interesting fabrics and cuts. Not "traditional" by any means. You also mention wool in your post – a tropical wool will feel better in the summer than a 100% cotton suit, and not wrinkle as easily as linen. Answer from blaseborek on reddit.com

I'm dreading having to wear a suit in the Summer.
I have been there too and have worked in warm climates. First, realize you do not need to be wearing your full suit with coat every second of the day. You can still tactfully carry your jacket with you until you get inside where there is AC. It is like wearing a heavy coat when it is 10 degrees outside. You are going to take your heavy coat off right when you get inside, but you certainly want it when you are outside. If you are buying new suits or dress shirts, pay attention to materials and weaves. Not all are created equal by any stretch. You want materials/weaves that are breathable. For dress shirts look for looser broadcloth/poplin weaves. Usually twill or herringbone weaves are tighter and breath less easily. Most dress shirts are cotton, however, you can sometimes find linen dress shirts. Linen is really lightweight and breathable, however, can be more expensive and wrinkles SUPER easy. There is no such thing as "no iron" or "wrinkle free" linen dress shirts. There are also linen-cotton blend shirts that are somewhere in the middle. If you are looking to buy a new suit for summer, look at "tropical" or "summer" wool. It looks pretty much like most wool suits but is just weaved looser so it breathes easier. You can also find linen and cotton summer suits, but I personally don't think they are as business appropriate. Linen suits always make me think of Miami Vice and seersucker in court is hard to pull off unless you are over 55. More on reddit.com

Need a suit for a wedding. Best options under $300

Dont listen to anyone telling you to spend more than $200. You are much better off buying a cheap suit and having it tailored.

I strongly recommend going to Burlington coat factory/Stein Mart/Nordstrom rack/Ross/TJ Maxx/Marshalls and looking at suit separates (matching jacket and slacks sold separately). Don't worry if it's polyester blend - at this price point wool isn't really an option and some of the blend textiles have become very good in the past 5-10 years.

Find something you like for under $200, then go on Yelp and find a good tailor near you. $85-110 at a tailer will go a LONG way towards making you look sharp. Much better to have a well-fitted cheap suit than an ill-fitted expensive one.

LPT Request : how can I wear a suit for the summer and not sweat excessively ?
Don't overlook wool, it's counterintuitive but a light wool suit can be cooler than cotton/linen. Seems to wick better and allow more airflow, also doesn't look wet or wrinkle as easy. Change undershirts (socks/underwear too if time permits) mid shift to freshen up. Use an elastic button extender on your top button to keep it loose, learn to knot your tie so it's not noticeable. A good tailor can add discrete vents to your coat to help airflow. Keep some wet wipes handy for your face and use light absorbant powder on your crotch & inside shoes, spray versions are nice and cool. Edit: TIL Discrete/Discreet Edit2: from u/ahchava : Instead of wet wipes, head to the women's cosmetics section and get facial refreshing wipes made explicitly for the purpose of wiping oil and sweat off mid-day. Many of these also contain matefiers to help you look less oily for longer. Some of them can even be kept in a fridge to be extra cold when you use them to help fight the heat better. Edit3: Airism undershirts seem to have a good following here: https://m.uniqlo.com/us/product/men-airism-crew-neck-t-shirt-short-sleeve-133158.html?color=00 No connection to any of these, just want to make America cool again :) Edit4 u/Youeclipsedbyme has good advice on fit, sizing and material, check it out More on reddit.com

“Linens, and textured fabrics like herringbone lend themselves well to light coloured suits. Plain beige cotton gives a safari feel and this summer I’ve also noticed a lot of seersucker around which classically comes in a pale blue and white stripe – a perfect choice if you prefer a crisper fabric than linen.” · “I find a light to medium grey is the best option,” opines Daniel Johnson, “especially if you need to work – because grey is the easiest colour to style from office to evening.

The Best Men’s Suits for Summer Weddings | Savile Row Company
Summer is the time when many men can move away from monochrome wardrobes and start to experiment with color and print. However, this warm-weather ritual is not so easy to follow when it comes to formalwear. Thankfully, it is possible. Armed with a subtly checked suit, you are able to bring some character your tailoring without looking too relaxed. To avoid a patterned mess, when wearing a check suit, it's best to keep the rest of your outfit subdued.
