Thank you for the good recommendations on the fridge. I would love to hear your takes on a washing machine.

Had to move suddenly, have to purchase a new Top Load Washer and Gas Dryer, I used to be an appliance installer for Best Buy up until 2019, back then Whirlpool/Maytag were still solid units as far as top loaders go, but my friend who still installs says they’re all pretty much garbage now unless you go Speed Queen, which is way too rich for my blood right now, already extending beyond my means just to get the move done. I was considering a GE set, but now I’m reading they’re loud as hell and they only fill 3/4 the tub since the Department of Energy says they have to save water, also considered the Maytag Commercial but my buddy from the old days, who’s the PacSales store manager now, says everyone loves them at first but they went with a plastic hub for the motor and they strip out and Whirlpool/Maytag doesn’t wanna cover under warranty. Commercial my ass! He told me that unless you want to spend the money on Speed Queen, everything these days is a crap shoot and they all have severe flaws. If my wife would let me I’d just find an old set of Kenmore 80 Series and call it a day but she wants new.

At this point I’m considering just doing the Black Maytags with the fixed agitator and running a splitter on my washer line with a hose to manually fill it, but I’m reading they have a water level sensor and if it detects it’s overfilled it’ll drain automatically before running the cycle, which is just ridiculous! I hear GE doesn’t do that, but if their motors are really that loud I can’t imagine my new neighbors will be happy…

I will not do front loader washers, we’ve been through an LG set (they were free), a GE set (cheap) and currently on a Whirlpool set, and all 3 of the washers have had to have the control boards replaced, I did drum bearings on the LG dryer twice in 3 years, and the Whirlpool Washer door seal leaked so I replaced it and it had mold within 6-8 weeks, and in just don’t dealing with the at this point.

Can anyone recommend a decent Top Loader washing machine and gas dryer that isn’t a total pile of hot garbage these days? If anyone knows which models WONT drain any extra water I put in please share that info as well, as I’m pretty confident that this is the route I’m gonna go, cuz I’m not gonna deal with half dry clothes with non-dissolved detergent stuck to and staining my damn jeans.
