This is the 3rd wireless headset that has just been garbage for some reason. Currently I’m using a SteelSeries set and I’m having to either reset my console, or move the stupid dongle piece into one of the various usb ports, or turn my headset on and off over and over until it finally works. Then like 90% of the time I can’t use the volume mixer at all and my headset is quiet as hell.
Can anyone recommend a headset that just plugs right into the controller? Wired only. I don’t want USB receivers or Bluetooth or having to plug something into something else into something else into my Xbox to hope it works.

So in my experience the heaphone Jack sounds better then wireless but there are different xbox one controllers. So I have the xbox controller with bluetooth that's the ver2 and a xbox elite controller and a wired hyperkin Duke controller. My heaphones sound better on the elite controller much louder on the same volume levels. Or you could just use a desktop dac through fiber like I use that will do a much better job then the controller any day. Btw any dac will work withe xbox as long as it doesn't need USB for data.
