This is inconsistent. And why charge more just because you've booked through the app? Forget the app - just hail a cab in future. There seems to be plenty of them.

Hey guys, a few questions:
Which are the cheapest and most reliable transportation apps in Bali? So far I know about Grab, Gojek, Balicab, Booking Taxi and Bluebird
Anyone used the taxi option in the Booking.com app? The rates appear to be favorable, at least for airport pickup. Bali Airport - Ubud center - 200k IDR. This is a good price right?
For Bluebird and Gojek it appears you need an Indonesian SIM. If I use Klook and buy a prepaid SIM card delivered directly to our villa, then these apps will work?
I know that bikes are significantly cheaper to rent than cars, especially for short trips. However, there will be two of us. In Philippines for example you can find motorcycles with a sidecar, that can transport two people. You can find them in Bali as well, maybe through an app? Or, is there a way to call two bikes at once through the same reservation?

[1] either grab or gojek. find one that's easier for you to top up and withdraw, and offers more discount. bluebird is also available to order from gojek for cheaper price, but sometimes they dont accept your order. i only use bluebird app in a desparate pinch. never need other app than those 3. [4] sorry no such thing here. if you have gojek and grab on your phone, you could order a bike from each app and go on convoy. or if you found people wearing gojek / grab jacket sitting on the sidewalk, you could tell them where do you want to go, and pay them in cash instead. or even use the app. that way you could start the ride exactly together with your partner.

Gojek user here. Heard Grab is pretty decent but I only ended up using Gojek.

I’m planning a solo trip to Bali in early March and transport has been a bit of a worry. The first hotel I was considering hasn’t replied to my email days ago so I just found another one and sent an email (is this a normal thing by the way? I’ve noticed they’re good at replying to reviews on travel sites but I’ve seen a review of the second hotel stating they wouldn’t reply to emails. Is it still safe to book?). The second hotel doesn’t offer hotel transfers on the website (though I’ve read reviews that say otherwise).
I last visited Bali in 2013 before Grab was a thing. I’ve just found out that Grab might be a thing but it’s not really a thing in Bali? When I was there I had airport transfers both ways, walked most of the time (just stuck to the Kuta Beach area), and only took a cab once to/from a restaurant (the concierges on both sides flagged me a Blue Bird taxi).
I’m reluctant to go with un-metered unmarked cabs partly because I’m gonna be solo but also because I’m terrible at haggling. I’m not good with aggressive touters either. Are Blue Bird taxis easy to flag on the street or would it be better to use the app? How user friendly is the app?
I’ve heard stories about getting to/from the airport too.. How easy is it to get a Blue Bird from the departure hall?

Very easy, they are literally right outside the airport. I used Grab with lots of success in Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, etc. Ubud was much more a hassle, a few times the driver texted me ahead letting me know he was in a different car. It turned out to be fine, they always cite the “taxi mafia” as to why they have to go to such lengths. You can use the bluebird app, but I just preferred the ease of Grab. I did use bluebird for longer trips - such as Seminyak to Ubud, which was maybe 150-250k I believe (with meter). Always agree on meter before getting in a non-Grab vehicle. You’ll be fine.

Grab and GoJek work perfectly fine, just some areas are 'off limits'. Order a grab to the Novotel front entrance, you can reach the hotel through the terminal and walk straight out. Hotels are perfectly fine to book, and emails are indeed rarely replied to - install whatsapp and line (messengers) if you don't use them yet, add the hotel's number to your contacts and there's a 90% chance you can message them there and get a near instant reply. I'm usually booking through hotels.com, best customer service in my opinion, but agoda or booking.com work just as well.
