Soundtouch discontinued - how to continue?
Unfortunately, Bose decided that to improve their wifi capabilities they needed to start from scratch. So essentially the Home Speaker systems are not compatible with the SoundTouch systems. There are (kind of) ways around it, but they may not the best ways and probably not for what you are after. If you use Apple devices, you may be able to airplay to the new and old systems. I don't use Apple, but from what I've heard this is true You can BT rebroadcast to one BT device. So if you have two of the new speakers, they can join over Wifi, and you can BT to the SoundTouch. The drawback of this is the range of BT, which means it probably needs to be in the same room and defeats the purpose. More on reddit.com

Right now I'm owning a soundtouch 10 and I really love that thing. The app works great, it's small, it connects to Spotify.
Since I'd love to have music everywhere in my home I need 2-3 more speakers. Ideally they should be connected over WiFi and run in a synchronous manner.
The problem is, soundtouch is discontinued. I can't really find out if the smart speaker works with soundtouch - is there cross compatibility?
Also there are only two smart speakers: the portable smart speaker which is ugly AF - but that's just my opinion - and the smart speaker 500 which is rather expensive.
Any advices how to continue are really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The new systems use a different app to SoundTouch called Bose Music . You can get your SoundTouch 10 to connect to them via Bluetooth if you wish for homewide audio. On the App Info screen, tap Force Stop. With iOS 13 and up, when you install the SoundTouch App for the first time on your device, you will be prompted by Apple asking to enable Bluetooth permissions. If you choose "Don't Allow", you will not be able to complete the setup.
