My Bose Wave 3 Review and a question | What Hi-Fi? Forum
December 8, 2012 - Try moving it a bit further away from the wall/corner to reduce the bass. I listen to my Bose Wave 2 for about an hour and a half each day on average. Expensive kit but great value over the years. Not sure that I'd buy any other brand for my bedside cabinet after living with the Bose. Not hi-fi, but it's my-fi !

What we do know, as the image on ... to filter the signal. ... How does the Wave Music System III sound? In fairness much like all Bose audio: a foundation of deep bass and thick radiating midrange coming somewhat at the expense of clarity and detail in the higher ... How much do you like CDs? This may sound a strange question to ask in 2012, but when considering Bose’s high end yet deliberately retro take on the modern music system it is one that is impossible to ignore.
Bose product refreshes are rare and for that reason alone the ‘Wave Music System III’ arrives with a significant amount

Bose's Wave Music System improves upon the original in both design and performance. Bose Wave Music System Editor's note: We have changed the rating in this review to reflect recent changes in our rating scale. Click here to find out more. In creating the follow-up to its original Wave radio/CD player, Bose was on a mission to keep the unit the same size while improving its sound quality, which can present a serious challenge when it comes to a compact piece of equipment that includes speakers. Bose also decided to replace the top-loading CD player with a swankier front-loading one and did aw

I have one of these that I got from Goodwill for $10. It's surprisingly good. The sound quality, while not hifi, sounds better than most Bluetooth speakers you can get today. The stereo separation is not bad if you are right in front of it. I use mine as a desktop speaker. If you are going to put it in a small room, it will be fine for playing CDs and radio. When these were new, they were over $300. If you want it, offer $50 and make sure the CD works. I don't think it's worth much more.

Bose Wave System, any good? - Singletrack World Magazine December 16, 2009
December 17, 2009 - Triumph of form over function, Speakers are tuned to be quite toppy( ie biased towards the higher frequencies), so they sound really exciting in the shop, the transmission line (wave tube) is to give a bit more bottom end and mid range, but to listen for any length of time they begin to grate quite quickly. And as pointed out above, they are just filled with bog standard Phillips guts anyway.

A friend gave me his wave after having owned it for about 6 months. It came with a cd jammed in it. No problem as a handy local electronics store sorted that out for £15. The sound quality is typical Bose, USELESS in every respect. I have an old Sony micro system that cost about £90 and it knocks Bose into a cocked hat. Skipped it. ... Again, if you see the kind of money these things change hands for, I find it really hard to believe your freind gave you a £500 item and that you 'skipped' something you could easily have sold for at least £100, whether you thought it sounded OK or not!

How I Got Into The Hi Fi Biz - The Guy Behind Bose Wave Radio Speaks
June 14, 2021 - Is there a way that you guys can have the turn-on volume ramp up from silent to normal volume over a span of about 10 seconds or so, so you’re not jolted up at full blast first thing in the morning?” · Yup, we could do that, and we did. So the original Wave Radio had a ‘ramp up’ alarm volume-on feature, thanks to my friend’s suggestion. Thanks, Mark. I had a lot to do with some other notable Bose models as well, like their RoomMate series of self-powered speakers and the AM-5 Series II, the follow-up to the original industry re-defining AM-5 sub-sat system.

r/bose on Reddit: Acoustic Wave vs Wave System?
October 23, 2023 -
Hello,
I am looking for a nice CD player for the kitchen, and I am nostalgia as hell for the Wave sets I always saw in catalogues and my parents never could afford.
Does anyone have an opinion on the tall Acoustic Waves II vs the regular Wave systems(I or II)? Does one sound better than the other, or have some killer feature I am missing out on? Is there a reason the acoustic is three times the size?
Thank you!

Hi I’m a Bose fan and repair them I been dealing with them for 14 years. The acoustic wave ii at higher volumes will have more clarity and more bass are per the smaller wave music system ii and iii will not be as clear at higher volumes I’m talking about 80 and up it still performs well though. I’d recommend the acoustic wave ii system or acoustic wave CD-3000. Both have same looks. Top is lightly different. Acoustic wave ii last year model has MP3 on CD platform and slightly better bass response. If you want smaller then the wave music system ii and iii smaller model will be good. I still love these units I don’t think Bose should have discounted them. But now I see it as I have a unique system not everyone will be able to have so it will be consider vintage and unique

The acoustic wave definately has better sound. However they are both old systems. I don't think the acoustic wave has been sold for at least 5 years and hadn't been updated for a while before that (maybe 10-15 years ago). The normal wave was last updated around 6 years ago. While they were built to last a while, the first thing to go tended to be the cd player part. I'd think they are old enough that Bose probably don't fix them anymore, so you'd have to go through a third party repairer.
