Cheap DIY Display Case Tutorial - AaronUglum.com
You can also slap a piece of scrap board on the lower back of the case, if you're feeling crazy. It helps the display hang a bit straighter. ... Let the box sit. No, really. Don't throw it right on the wall and start loading it down. Make sure the glue is good and cured. You don't want it collapsing with your stuff inside, or worse, have super glue curing fumes leave residue on them. I'd wait at least 24 hours to be safe. ... Congratulations! You now have your very own custom display case, a pile of foam board bits, and a silent resolution to not do this again any time soon.

I want to put it in a nice clear case so that it stays clean and Nice. The Ones sold online are very expensive though, any thoughts on how to get a cheap One or how to build One?

You can usually get glass or perspex cut to size cheaply, or particularly with perspex it's easy to cut yourself. 3mm thick in either is common. Perspex is a good option as lighter than glass and a bit easier to work with. Both can be joined with clear silicone or you can get timber for a frame - either square stock and route 3mm channels or you can get L profile and glue the glass/perspex inside. Them fit to a wood base.

I made my own display case out of clear and mirrored acrylic sheets. I managed to get the sheets for cheap from a local company that also cut them to size for me. As for building it, I followed this guide and it turned out alright for me.

Custom Display Cabinets, Part 2 -Construction
With some sort of wood in mind, some insight about hinges etc, and a clear idea of how the doors come together, you can begin to design your display cases. Start by arranging your collection as it might go on the wall, -say by spreading it all out on a bed. Have a tape measure and some graph paper handy. Draw pictures. Draw some more pictures. When you have your design figured out, draw yet more pictures, particularly if you are building it yourself.

July 22, 2021 - The blocks reinforce the false keel where you drill the screw pilot hole so the keel doesn’t just split apart rendering the pilot hole useless for securing the mounting screw. I then need a three or four inch wood screw as thin as you can find. Easy method but does require planning early in the keel and bulkhead stage of the build. ... I've built display cases for other uses using stained glass techniques.

Making a Custom Display Box - I Like To Make Stuff
August 27, 2020 - In my case, I wanted the model’s instructions to hide in the back of the case. This rectangular form factor was good, because I planned on showcasing the model’s pieces individually as well as a completed R2. To make the display feel like a cool Star Wars relic, I made two rectangular boxes from foam core and would let the face plate divide them in a cool way.
