Hi,
I just got the Canon R6 (Upgraded from EOS R) and wanted to give Log a try. But I always had a hard time finding a LUT for the footage.
Has anyone had some experience with some LUTS?

Boy howdy have I. I was completely puzzled by the Canon LUT download, b ut this guy has some that I got (I think they cost a few $) and they work brilliantly. BTW I got no dog in this fight. So, for example, if you shoot in CLOG3 with BT709 as the color space, you can use his Canon C-Log 3 BT.709 to Rec.709 files--he has a neutral one (ie no compensation) and a series reducing and adding stops so you can adjust the exposure. I find they work quite well. If this is confusing, feel free to DM me for more details.

I've been learning about ETTR, expose to the right 1, 2, or even 3 stops as a way to avoid noise and clean up your footage, but then the image is super bright and washed out in camera and I won't see what it actually looks like until I bring it into DaVinci resolve to color it. Is there a way to make a custom lut and import it into these cameras so I can ETTR but see more of a finished Cinematic image rather than a super bright midtone heavy log image that is uninspiring. View Assist doesn't help much. I wish you could edit view assist...

I'd suggest an external monitor. Many of them allow you to apply LUTs in real time so that you can preview what the final result will look like. And change them if you're say looking for different choices to use in final editing. I use one even in stills for IR images so I can see them with the color swapping LUTs I apply later. And some also allow camera control. I can control my R5 with my Portkeys 7" one for example. Canon's implementation means you lose the LCD view when using it, but that's fine with me. And you get other benefits like zebras, histograms, waveform meters, peaking, pinch zoom, crop guides, false color modes, image flip, anamorphic desqueeze view, and probably others I've forgetton. Handy for showing folks what the semi finished product will look like, and not just because of the LUT but also the bigger brigher screen.
