Need help picking a Business Credit Card
What do you want out of your credit card rewards? For just straight cash back, the math is pretty straightforward, with 2% back being the best you'll get for default earn rate, not bonus multiplier spend categories. But the highest rewards value is going to come from business or first class International flights, where you can potentially get 10 cents per point of value. Do you plan to fly to Asia or Europe? That bucket list trip to the Maldives in over water villas? You don't have a ton of business spend, and not any that would fit in bonus categories, so you would have to save up for a while. Rewards programs can change over time, so a more flexible credit card rewards program will offer the best safeguards against certain airline or hotel rewards program devaluations. Chase is the best for this, but your earn rate would only be 1.5x from the Ink Unlimited , giving you 112.5K points for 75K spend. Amex is the runner up for most flexible rewards program, and can earn 2x with the Blue Business plus, but only on the first 50K of spend, so you'd only get 125K points from your 75K spend. Not all of your vendors may accept Amex either, so the extra 12.5K points may not be worth it. Capital One Spark 2x would earn 2x all day long. The $95 fee is fully offset by the $100 travel credit, and is also waived the first year. You'd have no problems getting a full 150K points, which would probably justify the fee already. And the better earn rate matters more as your spend increases. And not have to worry about a MasterCard being accepted. If Capital One rewards has the right transfer partners for you, then this may be the best option. You would just need an excellent credit score to get approved. More on reddit.com

Capital One Canada - Any Experience?
Sadly yes. They did the same thing to me too. Capital One won't let you grow. After my bankruptcy I had the Capital One card for 10 years paying their annual fee. Unfortunately my own bank (RBC were equally hard on me.) Finally I reached out to BMO and they were really good to me. Now have a BMO credit card. I canceled my Capital One card. They helped me regain my credit rating but their strategy seems to keep people locked in. Seems kind of predatory to me. I would have thought they'd want to keep customer loyalty but they just didn't care. I also went right to their management several times. Pay it off and move on. It's truly possible. Good Luck! Should I cancel my new Capital One Card?
Honestly, if you have the BMO offer with $3,000 limit you are good to go. I have several low limit cards ($1,000 - $1,500) that I finally closed. All had annual fees, but I would negotiate getting them reduced every year. I thought I needed to keep them open to 'maintain' my credit, but learned the positive history stays on my report for 10 years. It sounds like Capital One is giving you one of their sub-prime products. More on reddit.com

Is capital one a good credit card to build credit?
Yep. I was out of the country and came back with zero credit history. Use is pay it off in full monthly. Soon enough your bank will offer you a better card. When your bank offers a line of credit later on, take it. DO NOT USE IT! But Capital one if a good start. Doesn't work with Apple pay which is annoying though. More on reddit.com

August 6, 2023 -

Hey y'all!

I'm (27F) the sole owner of my small business and I manage all aspects of it. It has grown larger than I expected it to in my second year and I am SO overdue for a credit card. I've had close to 15k in expenses this year. I spend a lot on inventory, materials, festival feels, and applications. I sell stickers, magnets, my art prints, tote bags, etc. I've had orders over 2k at a time for inventory, and each order only gets bigger as my business grows. I'm also breaking into the wholesale world with selling my goods to gift shops, coffee shops, and more, so I am involved a lot of avenues for growth and expansion.

I'm tired of missing out on cash-back and perks with not having a business card and that's the last part of my finances/business organization that is still involved with my personal finances. I keep having to reimburse my personal credit card from my business account for when I can't use my business Pay Pal. The problem is, whenever I look at cards and start to compare them, I'm really lost with which one to choose, or what would be best for my type of business and wanted to see if anyone has good advice here. I applied for a chase business card in the past but was rejected, likely because my sales were nowhere near what they are now. I have Dr. degree in the medical field, so business and finance acumen is still all very new and I'm not as certain what would provide me with the greatest benefit at this time.

I'm looking for a lot of cash back, and any additional perks with large purchases. I don't care too much for travel miles but as I continue to travel for large music festivals, they could be helpful. I don't know if this helps but I also have a very good credit score. Thanks!!

Would not recommend Amex. Any chase visa should be good. and good luck!
