How do you use your card internationally?
There are no foreign transaction fees with capital one, which is great. You’ll get a notification of the charge amount first in the local currency, and then you’ll get a notification of the dollar amount, that is what will hit your account. Some places will ask to charge you to convert into your home currency, never do that, instead, pay in the local currency using your cap one cards. More on reddit.com

March 5, 2024 - If you're handed a receipt with two totals — one in the local currency and the other in US dollars — circle the amount in the local currency before you sign. Otherwise you'll pay a high price for the "convenience" of seeing your charge in dollars. The price is usually extracted by converting the charge at a lousy exchange rate set by the merchant's bank — and even though you're paying in "dollars," your credit-card issuer may still levy its standard foreign-transaction fee.
