What credit score do you need for Capital One's travel cards?
Most travel cards like Capital One Venture Card and Capital One Venture X Card require good to excellent credit (typically a score of 670+), though pre-approval can give you a better idea.
Are Capital One cards good credit cards?
Capital One has focused on providing customers a good value in terms of earning and redeeming miles or cash-back rewards. Capital One cards are versatile and flexible. Therefore, whether you’re an individual or a business or looking to earn miles or cash back, Capital One has a card that can help you achieve your travel goals.
How do you cancel a Capital One credit card?
First, closing a credit card may negatively affect your credit score. However, if you wish to proceed with canceling your Capital One credit card because you either are no longer using the card or the rewards are not beneficial to your lifestyle, Capital One recommends doing the following:
- Pay off your card balance
- Redeem your credit card rewards
- Contact Capital One
- Check your credit report
- Destroy the card
I know best is subjective but for myself and many others, the venture X is in the running for best travel credit card because it’s effectively a zero dollar annual fee card with exceptional benefits. We team it up with the Capital One savor, which is also a zero dollar annual fee credit card to get the multiplier on groceries and restaurants and then convert to miles.
I’m looking to have my wife apply for another travel credit card because they are taking away guest lounge access for the venture X starting next year and I would like her to retain that benefit. I don’t mind entering a new ecosystem, but I wanted to hear everyone’s rationale for their favorite best value credit card in the travel space. Bonus points if there is a decent sign-up bonus, we are planning a trip in January.
I personally loath the American Express style “coupon book” credit cards. I don’t personally get value by forcing myself to use services I wouldn’t normally use just to “recoup” the annual fee of a credit card.
I have banked with capital one for nearly 20 years. I have had multiple credit cards through them including bass pro and quick silver. I recently paid those off and I am looking for one with the best benefits for travel. My son plays travel baseball so throughout the year I book at least 15 weekend trips. Most are to basic hotels like Holiday Inn or Hiltons. The plan is to purchase these trips and turn around and pay it immediately. For years we have been booking these rooms using a debit account so the only difference is I want to get benefits/rewards for these purchases. If I was to open a new card to use for this purpose through Capital One what do you suggest?
