Forza Horizon 5 stands out as one of the best all-around car games for PC, offering a vast open world, diverse vehicles, and a mix of arcade and simulation elements. It features a dynamic day-night cycle, rich customization, and regular updates, making it ideal for both casual and dedicated players.
Assetto Corsa Competizione and iRacing are top choices for serious sim racing enthusiasts, delivering highly realistic physics, authentic vehicle models, and deep track detail. iRacing, in particular, is known for its professional-grade simulation and active online leagues.
For free options, consider The Crew Motorfest (free-to-play with in-game purchases), Horizon Chase Turbo (a visually striking retro arcade racer), or Redout 2 (a high-speed, futuristic hovercraft racer). BeamNG.drive is excellent for physics-based experimentation and crash simulations.
If you prefer open-world chaos, Lego 2K Drive lets you transform vehicles and race in imaginative environments. For classic arcade fun, Need for Speed: Heat or Test Drive Unlimited offer high-speed thrills with customizable cars and expansive maps.

Don't listen to the Horizon guys as it's NOT for use with wheels (it's my favorite racing game though).
To start I'd probably try F1 or regular Forza. Would be better to go for something a bit more 'gamey' like this and transition into the more hardcore sims.

I’m getting tired of playing the casual NFS titles everyday and Midnight Club on the Steam Deck and on PS3. So I’d like to know what types of other car games that you just cruise around the map, having to barely do races as like a task, and hangout with other people online. I’m always trying to expand on different types of games that I can at least play and enjoy to!
Appreciate the answers if you know any good car games.
Looking for an open world car game on PC that you can have access to a decent amount of cars or pay a few $ to unlock some at the start. It's for my 7 and 9 year old that just want to pick a car and drive around they dont really care about much else. We tried Forza 4, but it's taking a little to long to unlock the cars and a bit of a learning curve for controls etc.
