I have the Rain Defender Loose Fit Heavyweight Quarter-Zip sweatshirt without the hood, which has been discontinued. I’ve worn it for construction work for five winters and it’s been washed countless times. Surprisingly, light rain still beads on the surface of the sweatshirt. I’ve had very few issues with the zipper touching or rubbing on my neck, but I usually have the zipper either all the way down or all the way up. I don’t know if Carhartt ever puts them on sale, but Black Friday and Cyber Monday would be the time if it ever does. They do have discounts for first responders, military, and nursing staff though. Agree with what everyone else has said. Also they no longer have the “rain defender” written on the left sleeve near the cuff. Used to have a little emblem there.
