r/Mattress on Reddit: Bought Costco Casper cooling select 12" Hybrid Medium Firm and love it
April 4, 2025 -

I finally replaced my 2015 Tuft and Needle Kind size and 20+year old box springs. New box springs were Serta available at Costco. The difference is incredible! I love the new mattress even though it has only been out of the box for 2 hours before we slept on it. Very happy with my purchase. I'm a tall 200lb back and side sleeper, wife is a stomach sleeper. We both feel like it's plush and comfortable yet supportive. No more back and shoulder pain from the old sunk in mattress. No more ridge in the middle of the bed from the old broken down box springs.

r/Mattress on Reddit: Casper Select 12” Hybrid Medium-Firm (Costco) vs. Casper Original 11” Hybrid

We just tried the Casper Original Hybrid at Macy’s, which I believe is a medium-firm. We really liked it, as it was similar (but a little softer) than our current mattress (Tulo Firm, the older version). We saw that Costco has a the Casper Select Hybrid for close to half the cost. How do these compare? I read that the Select line is made for Costco only and is similar to the original. To anyone who has tried both, did they feel similar to you? My husband and I really liked the Casper Original Hybrid that we tried in Macy’s, but would definitely prefer to pay the Costco price instead if they’re essentially the same mattress ($2100 vs $1100 for a king). Thank you for any help!

r/Mattress on Reddit: Casper Hybrid (Costco) review

Let me start by thanking everyone here for so much amazing mattress advice. I read pretty much every post and got some great advice from many, but especially u/the_leviathan711

Background/details: king size bed for 2 side/back sleepers with herniated disks and tons of joint pain. 5'10" 165lbs and 5'3" 156lbs. Do not like the feel of latex, have, in the past, been really happy with an IKEA hybrid that, sadly, broke down too quickly. Tested out lots of mattresses at a local store to figure out what feel we preferred. Loved the Tempur Adapt hybrid but have had a bad experience with the off-gassing, so didn't want one. More concerned about return policy than anything else. Considered DIY and got great suggestions for a build. Worried about the returning/exchanging of individual components, so didn't go that route. Locally, Costco has the best returns, so we looked at what they had available and chose the mattress that most closely resembled a combo of the DIY specs and the Tempur Adapt. The winner was the Casper Hybrid and it has been FABULOUS!

No pain when sleeping on side, wake up without joint stiffness, sleep well. Frankly, it feels like a miracle to not be in pain in the morning and to not toss and turn all night. The edge support is good, very little motion transfer and does not sleep hot (all things I was concerned about). Also, ZERO off-gassing.

Hope this helps someone!

r/Mattress on Reddit: The new Casper Costco Cooling Select Hybrid was a nightmare, please help me find my dream bed
April 29, 2025 -

Title says it all. After my third night on the new Casper Cooling Select Hybrid, it's going back to Costco. For anyone else considering this mattress and looking for information:

  • About me: Side sleeper with scoliosis both in my upper and lower back. Low back usually feels fine. I struggle with neck and shoudler pain frequently, though. 120 lb female.

  • Mattress history/what we like: We got a new place where we can fit a king bed. We have two queens: original all foam Casper dinosaur which will be replaced by the new king, and a Westin Heavenly bed (2016 edition, basically an old school Beautyrest innerspring with a soft pillowtop while still being very supportive even right up to the edge). My husband loves the original Casper, I love the Heavenly. The old school Casper is fine for me and causes no pain, I just don't particularly like it, either. We also purchased the Casper Select Original from Costco for the guest room at my parent's two years ago That one I feel the same way about (it is fine, I don't love it.) They changed the Heavenly so it is no longer the same, and also it is too expensive for us at the moment (need to stay under $2k for a king, ideally less). We thought the Casper Hybrid would be a good middle ground.

  • Verdict on the Costco Casper Select Cooling Hybrid: WORST. MATTRESS. EVER. Light years softer than the other two all foam Caspers, by a really long shot. The edge support is non existent and my hips just seem to sink right down into the depths of hell on this mattress. I have slept on it for three nights and for 2/3 of them I have had horrific back pain the next day. It has taken the crown for "most pain inducing mattress I have ever slept on", a title previously held by the mattress at my parent's place that was decades overdue on being put out to pasture and hurt us both so bad we replaced it so we could visit them. If you have an all foam Casper now and are considering this one, be aware that this bed does not feel like it at all. The softness feels nice for a minute or so, but then it becomes a sinkhole in the middle zone. For what it is worth my husband does not mind it, but he is also not that particular. A friend came over the other day and I asked her to lay on it for her take. She (similar size as me) agreed that it is way too soft to be comfortable.

Where do we go from here? If we stick with Costco, what should we consider? The reviews on the Lakedridge are extremely mixed. Given I have back issues I would prefer too firm over too soft (and you can always add a topper). I have also read that it is supposed to be similar to the S&F Estate Medium which I laid on at Mattress FIrm and liked, although many reviews say it is much firmer. We also both liked the medium Beautyrest Black at Mattress FIrm (not sure which model, exactly), but that is out of budget. Based on my history, I am thinking I like firm mattresses with plush pillowtops, but it seems the whole world is going the foam/hybrid direction and those are hard to come by now. Is there one out there that is readily available to try, feels similar to the Westin Heavenly or Beautyrest Black, and comes in closer to $1500 or less? Is the Lakeridge even worth a try? TIA!

Hello!

I've narrowed it down to these two mattresses partially because I can't read anymore reviews or go down anymore rabbit holes. I'm driving myself and my husband nuts :) plus, I like Costco's return policy.

Anyways,

I am mainly a stomach/sider sleeper, I'm 5'6 and weigh 129lbs. My husband is 5'10 and 165 and he sleeps mainly on his side. I run kinda hot when I sleep. I think there is currently $100 price difference between these mattresses at the moment, any reason to pick on over the other?

Thanks for any help!!!!

r/Mattress on Reddit: Costco Casper Select Hybrid - After break-in
October 6, 2023 -

When I moved back in June, I ordered the Casper Select Hybrid queen online from Costco. Got a good deal on it for $639 including free delivery. I'm 5'7, 180 and it's just me sleeping on it. Primarily a side sleeper that shifts somewhat to stomach through the night. I loved it through the summer, although it did sleep a bit warm. Five months after getting it, I feel like the past couple of weeks, it has not been as comfortable and I toss and turn a bit through the night. I'm wondering if it's because the mattress has broken in or if it's more likely due to the cooler winter temperatures. In summer I have AC set to 70F and now that heat is on, I have it set to 65F. Anyone else notice theirs getting uncomfortable that quick? Thanks Rick

r/Mattress on Reddit: Deciding between Costco Casper Select and Sealy Posturepedic 12"
July 25, 2023 -

Hello all,
I am stuck in the wormhole that is mattress shopping. I am trying to buy a queen mattress for my spouse and I (110lbs and 150bs each). Both of us are side sleepers, who do have back pains. Unfortunately we have a limited budget (~$500-600) so not a lot of options. We tried a couple of options at MF and found that medium-firm is our preference and hybrid/memory foam both work, although the wife sleeps a little hot. I've finally been able to narrow it down to the two options at Costco (partially due to their return policy and customer support). The Sealy is about $100 more expensive but hybrid. I am not sure if its worth the extra...
We are in Atlanta , so any other recommendations are appreciated within the limited budget.

The two options:

Sealy - https://www.costco.com/sealy-posturepedic-12%22-hybrid-mattress.product.4000051631.html?preselect=bed+size%3aqueen

My wife and I have been looking for a king mattress and we’re considering pulling the trigger on a 2k mattress from a local mattress store because we were worried about the quality of a boxed mattress purchased online However, today we saw a king Casper 12” select mattress marked down selling for 300 dollars and we made the purchase because it seemed like a ridiculously good sale Was I really lucky here or is this normal?? It looks like it retails at 650 normally

Hey guys. So I’ve been dealing with upper back pain for 3-4 months, right behind my shoulder blade and when I look down and to the side at times. I believe it’s my mattresses fault.

I’m 190 athletic build, 5’9” Wife is 155 5’7” She side sleeps primarily and back sometimes, I mostly sleep on my back, and side sometimes. We have had a Nectar, and a Novaform, Im not sure how I feel about all foam Vs hybrid.

I have some hypermobility issues and rheumatoid arthritis, and I’m also a powerlifter which is a horrible combo that I choose to ignore.

Both of these would be from Costco

I'm having a hard time deciding between these two mattresses and would love some input. I'm a 5'7/140lb/Side Sleeper. I leaning towards the Sealy because it seems it may be less firm and may run colder. But any advice on these two would be helpful for my selection .

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this bed. I'm a side and stomach sleeper so I wanted to know if this bed would fit my sleeping style. I'm hoping this bed will also be durable. From what I understand the bed in store is $600 with a $120 discount leaving it at $480 which I find to be a good deal (discount starting August 4th).

I've had the Costco Casper Select Queen mattress for a little over a year -- and let me tell you, it's great! I generally sleep on my side and stomach, and have yet to have any complaints with it. In fact, my girlfriend ended up loving it so much that she got one for herself. After doing a bit of research, it appears that the Costco Casper Select mattress, is essentially a renamed Casper Original -- a much more expensive mattress. Other things to note: While Casper says that the zip-off top cover is not machine washable, I find the opposite to be the case. I have on more than one occasion washed the mattress top-cover. I used the Bulky Sheets/Tap Cold settings on the washing machine, and then tumble (no heat)/air dried the mattress cover, with almost no change to the feel of the mattress or cover. Edit: as u/partytime71 has pointed out, this most likely voids the warranty, so do at your own risk. Additionally, if you plan to buy this mattress, please use a box spring or at the very least a sturdy platform placed directly under the mattress. Slatted bed frames (without a box spring) will change the feel of the mattress -- make it feel softer and make you sink more into the bed. I know this, because my girlfriend does not have a box spring... While it still feels great, it isn't nearly as firm/sturdy feeling as it is when a box spring is underneath it.

Consumer reports had the novaform queen serafina pearl #2 and eventually I think it's still #3 I've had mine for years and can't recommend it enough! It's amazingly awesome. I'm a similar sleeper. Might be an online queen or bigger option only though. Good luck

February 15, 2024 - Excellent mattress. Stays cool and is a medium-firm. No issues at all even during the heatwave. ... It’s just repackaged. I do not recommend ... I'm pretty sure the older Casper Select just had regular memory foam whereas this newer one has gel memory foam which is supposed to be more cool.

r/Mattress on Reddit: Anybody try either of the Costco Casper Cooling Select Mattresses (Hybrid and Memory Foam) ?
February 5, 2024 -

Costco no longer has the medium-firm CasperSelect Mattresses (Memory Foam and Hybrid) that it used to have. Looks like they've been replaced with the Cooling Select Mattresses permanently.

From specifications, the new ones are significantly lighter in weight than the original ones. Makes me think they've used foam that is less dense. Has anyone here purchased the new ones yet ?

How do they compare to the older ones in terms of firmness and overall quality ? Any feedback on the mattresses is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
