I often see people say on this sub that you can’t buy a house here for under 600k or under 500k, so I look at what’s available for less on Zillow. You can find stuff in the 300-400 range, but only if you’re ok with a very small 1-2 bed house that was probably a summer bungalow and are ok with having at least an hour commute to most places with good paying jobs. I’ve seen houses in this range show up most often in Mastic, Rocky Point, Ronkonkoma, and Wyandanch, they may be livable but usually aren’t updated. The median home price nationally is 412k, but on LI that’s still scraping the bottom of the barrel.
