The trick with the unopened stuff is that this cupboard does not even have to be in the kitchen, put it anywhere you like, or in a box out of sight, if you keep a tight inventory you should not have too much of this stuff. I'd get a few cheap baskets from dollar tree so you can corral similar items together. They are especially nice on higher shelves because you can take down the whole basket to find what you want, instead of standing on tiptoes and shuffling everything around. What's the budget? I would 100% outfit that wall with tall IKEA cabinets, like Pax or Brimnes or even Billy bookcases with doors! I'd do the whole wall for a clean look, adjust the shelves on the inside for different heights so you can fit various things in there, and then enjoy all that awesome storage! Alternatively if you just want to hide what you've already got, I'd consider installing a long tension curtain rod (might need to brace it with hook from the ceiling in the middle if it's too long, but they make them up to 12 ft or something) and then hanging a cool pretty set of curtains. You need to look at what's happenning in your kitchen and organize accordingly. I go to the Dollar Store for everything organization related. When I can't find things, I go to Walmart and if I need something very niche, Amazon. Declutter, then take note of what items you use where. Identify dumping spots and why that's happenning. Remedy. June 8, 2020 - One thing I didn't see mentioned was checking out thrift stores, garage sales, or Facebook Marketplace where you might be able to find fancier or sturdier storage baskets and other organization/storage solutions for cheap. Keep an eye out especially for a tall pantry cupboard (like this one) or a "kitchen centre" (like this) you can switch out with the coffee/wine cart so you can use that vertical space.

I need some serious help tackling my kitchen pantry. It's become a chaotic mess of boxes, bags, cans, and mysterious items shoved in the back. I'm looking for practical tips and maybe some affordable product recommendations to create a more functional system.

Once you get the pantry physically organized, I have two suggestions for strategies. Be diligent about FIFO. No matter how tired you might be after doing the shopping and hauling it all home, don't just shove everything in there. Take the time to put the new goods behind the old goods. If you don't have the energy to do it right away, then just don't even attempt to put stuff away yet. Get the cold stuff in the fridge and freezer and then leave all the shelf stable stuff still in the bags until a bit later. Then do it right. Set yourself a calendar reminder to, about once a quarter, give the pantry a good review to see what's been languishing there and needs to be used up before it expires. Plan a few meals around those ingredients. Or, if you realize you don't really want to use the stuff after all, donate it to a local food pantry.
