What materials are poster frames usually made from?
Poster frames commonly come in materials like wood, plastic, metal, and sometimes engineered wood or MDF. Each material offers different benefits:
- Wood: Provides a classic, sturdy look and can be painted or stained.
- Plastic: Lightweight and often more affordable, good for casual displays.
- Metal: Sleek and modern, usually more durable.
- Engineered Wood/MDF: Combines durability with cost-effectiveness.
Choosing the material depends on your style preference, budget, and where you plan to hang the frame.
How do I choose the right size frame for my poster?
Choosing the right size frame for your poster depends on the poster's dimensions and how you want it displayed. Typically, the frame should match the poster size exactly to avoid gaps or overlaps. If you prefer a matted look, select a larger frame that accommodates both the poster and the mat. Consider measuring your poster carefully and checking the frame's listed dimensions before purchasing. Walmart offers a variety of poster frames in standard sizes like 18" x 24" and 20" x 30" to fit most posters easily.
What's the best way to hang a poster frame securely on the wall?
To hang a poster frame securely, start by selecting the right hardware based on the frame's weight and your wall type. Many frames come with hanging hardware included, such as sawtooth hangers or D-rings. For heavier frames, consider using wall anchors or picture hooks designed for drywall. Use a level to ensure the frame hangs straight. If you're unsure, removable adhesive hooks can be an option for lighter frames, but they may not support heavier ones. Always follow the frame's hanging instructions for the best results.

I recently had a very limited and autographed concert poster framed and I wanted a very good job on it. I paid 480$ for museum glass, matting, etc. and I was very satisfied. I asked how much it would be to frame some other, less unique posters and was told 250$!? That seems very high to me. The 480$ already seemed a little high but again I was very pleased. Is there somewhere I can bring 5-7 posters to be framed in a nice but normal frame job that would maybe give a discount for multiples? I don’t want museum glass nor do I necessarily need matting if it keeps the price down. I just want plain black frames.
Hello. I’m trying to find a place in Orlando to buy frames for my posters, art, pictures, etc. for cheap. I was looking at Michael’s in Orlando, but those things are like $80 a frame. Does anyone know any good places in Orlando to check? I’m in the Kissimmee area so somewhere near Kissimmee would be great. IKEA has been consideration as well. Thanks.
