Thoughts on black shower fixtures with white subway tile?
Black fixtures in bathroom

It seems that black fixtures have been everywhere for the past few years - in bathrooms, black is the new black. And I'm wondering if I should consider them for my current bathroom reno.
My walls are matte white large format tiles (30x60cm), and the floor is a matte sand/gray-ish/taupe-ish color, also matte, same size; it is somewhat similar to a warmer concrete finish. The sink and cabinet are from IKEA (all white), the toilet is white, and the washing machine and cabinet are also white. Ceiling white, door white, trim white. Overall, very light.
My feeling is that chrome fixtures - the shower set, the sink's faucet, the metal trim on the glass shower wall - will add to the lightness, and might seem to fit in with the bright, reflective feeling of the room. On the other hand, I'm thinking of black - perhaps the contrast would be good, perhaps it seems more up-to-date than chrome? But I'm also wondering if, in this largely white space, a big black shower set and a black faucet are going to stick out like sore thumbs.
I also have heard that black fixtures are difficult to keep looking nice (they're always marked by water spots), and that this love affair with black fixtures is on its way out - which is going to date the bathroom, and make it unattractive for future buyers (I'll be selling in the next three years).
I really have no gut feeling about this, so I'd love to get any and all input. Thanks!
