I spent around $30 on ebay using this 2 weeks ago, but couldn't find any information relating to this offer and discover in my discover account center online. Assuming now this is spend $200 or more on one transaction.

Just had a chat with Amex and was told that Virtual Card Numbers generated through Chrome are not one-use numbers and can be re-used at different merchants.
If this is true, what is the use of the virtual number? It can be compromised just like a regular card when used online. 20 years ago virtual numbers were one-shot use and were invalidated after the first use. This absolutely prevented bad actors from getting the card number and making fraudulent purchases. It seems now that there is nothing to prevent someone from getting a virtual number (data breach, etc) and using it for fraud.
Does anyone know if the rep was correct?
