Sonnet 4 you can run for most of 5 hours on the $100 Max plan, but Opus stops fairly early on. I kept Opus on standby for harder issues. Honestly, I dislike the hardcore agent coding. I'd rather do build, file layout creation, most coding on my own. /cost doesn’t tell me how many tokens I’ve used. But after 4 hours I’m at my limit. My project is not massive, and I never noticed more than a few k tokens on occasion. It would be good to know what the limits are and I might move to max.

How does the rate limit differ from that of Cursor? my info is that its 10-40 prompts every 5 hour

Claude code on pro might be the greatest llm upsell there is. After using it for a little while I immediatly upgraded to claude max for higher limits and access to Opus in Claude Code. It's absolutely amazing and blows cursor out of the water

It really depends on your codebase, the way you prompt and provide access to context. I am a software engineer with over 15 years of experience. Have been using Claude Code for my SaaS and have been using it for everything almost now. It is surprisingly good in terms of how much you can get away in the 5 hour slot if you know your codebase and are conscious of the limits. For the times I hit the limit, Cursor comes into rescue and let me finish what I have left. In my opinion if you have some fallback option you can just get these two subscriptions and don’t need any much more. But obviously it really depends on how much you use it. My recommendation is to buy just one month of the Pro version and try it out for yourself. I’m pretty sure you will really enjoy it 🙂

Hey everyone,
I’m a solo founder building my first web app and I’ve been using Claude Code Pro for coding and debugging. Lately, I’ve been constantly hitting the 5-hour daily usage limit, which is slowing me down a lot.
I’m thinking about upgrading to the Max plan ($200 NZD / ~$120 USD per month) for unlimited/extended access. I have no steady income right now, but I’ve freed up some budget
I want to hear from people who have experience:
Is the Max plan actually worth it for someone hitting daily limits on Pro?
Will it save enough time and frustration to justify the cost?
Any tips to get the most value out of the Max plan as a solo builder?
Basically, I’m trying to figure out if it’s a worthwhile investment in speed/productivity for my first project.

Tipps: use claudecode + claude in Visual studio. Use MCP tools depending on what you are doing. The 2 things you have influence on that affects the outcome is the Prompt and the Documentation. Think of it like beeing an cartographer and Engineer who maps a racetrack and builds a racing car. You map out the track's shape(documentation) and build the racing car (prompt). the driver is claude. The More descriptive and concise you are, the better the documentation is that claude can access, the more reliable will its outputs be. Be Methodological. its easy to ignore best practice prompting at some point out of frustration and just tell claude to "fix it". This can end badly. Depending on project size, consider Multiple agents. Multiple agents have different purposes and domain knowledge of parts of the project and can be called on demand. Also in parallel, and to review created plans. Always have claude create a plan based on what you want, make it ask you questions about the plan. Make it give you suggestions and recommendations. Only when you feel the plan covers everything let claude execute it.

Since Cursor has changed their pricing and now it is basically useless with their $20USD plan, I was thinking about trying Claude Code. But I don't know if it is better to use it with the API charging credits on Anthropic console or directly buying the Pro plan subscription for $20USD. Can someone who has tried it tell me which is the cheaper way?

Pro definitely. A 2h session costs like 5usd. Using for 2h every day and monthly total would be 150usd. That’s what the api would cost while pro is just 20. Api is for enterprises because they cant buy individual subsricptions for employees.

The $20 plan can easily spend $100-200 worth of API usage in a month without ever hitting limits, it’s not even close!

I have 3 pro plans. I cannot justify spending $100 right now. I hit my limits on sonnet 4.5 within 2-3 hrs with properly managing context. Then i switch to 2nd account and then 3rd.. post that my 1st account limit resets. That is how I roll.

I will mainly use it alongside cursor, I love claude’s models especially in anything that requires any tool use its so good and seamless

$20 subscription is enough for me, my work is programming all day when I'm not in meetings. I don't use claude code for everything all the time though. You can subscribe to $20 for one month and see if it works for you. $100 is so out of my reach too I don't even consider it.

I'm not a coder by job but it is good enough for side or small project: image label app for AI training data, simple inventory tracking app for a small shop. been building 5 simple apps over a week now and it is fine.
